    Oh, it can rain plenty. A number of years ago, before the drought, we had 33-consecutive days of rain in San Francisco. Places is the coastal mountains can routinely get upwards of 10" of rain in a single storm, due do compression.

    Heavy rain in October is not super-common, but it does happen.
