Can you run without a windshield on the street in oklahoma? If you can is anyone doing it? Any problems?
Do a search for your state laws... not sure about windsheilds. I always thought if bikers can do it, why not cars, but then again, I've never researched it.
According to the OHP officer I talked to, there are three statutes on the books concerning windshields: 1. Must be transparent 2. Must have windshield wipers 3. Wipers must be properly maintained He said that you should be good to go without it. I got this info by calling their non-emergency number.
I do not know about Oklahoma, in Florida if you run a windshield you must have wipers and it must be transparent. If you do not run one, none of the above pertains, but you must wear eye protection of some type. I have been running mine without a windshield for five years and have never been stopped. I have been followed and checked several times, but they have never stopped me. I have always worn motorcycle gl***es or goggles.
We in Missouri can tell an Oklahoma-Texas vehicle by the "sandblast" effect on the windshield's surface.......can hardly see out at night in city lights..... Id want one to prevent the same in my face- not to mention the slush slung from tires on a rainy day on the freeway. A SHORT ONE IS good - if and when it becomes smeared you can seee OVER it....goggles are smart too. I never thought much about it till I was in Kansas City's [early morning traffic] and it rained....scary!
this is exactly the type of info I was looking for. Thank you very much. I'm going with goggles, too.
Have you ever had the windshield on you daily driver busted by a rock kicked up by a p***ing truck or another car? How would you like that rock in your face? Nuff said.
What about guys that ride motorcycles? Don't they have to worry about that same thing? Not asking in a smart *** way, either?
years ago, when riding my bike, I got hit with a rock from a dump truck. It hit me just to left of my adams apple. I was doing about 70 when the rock bounced up and hit me. I thought I was going to die right there. I had a really nasty bruise on my neck for weeks. After that I put a windsheild on the bike. Just my opinion, but I would suggest at least a small windsheild to get the air moving up, which will help most things clear your head.
