  1. I've been following along here, and just got caught up.
I am so sorry to read of your Daughters p***ing, terrible thing.
It's good that your keeping on with the build. Cars can be great therapy.

On The Last Grasp Special thread, lately I have been messing about with old magazines. A while back I came upon a Rod and Custom cover that had some very appropriate words on it, as regards hot rodders and our families , as well as the HAMB family.
Jalopy Kid when I looked at your thread this morning, I was moved and thought this might be appropriate here.

I can't imagine the emotion and pain you and your family are going through. I'm so sorry. It's really great to see you plugging away on the hot rod. In some way perhaps it's good therapy.

Been following your progress and it hurts me to hear this even though I'm not a family member or friend. I 'm only a HAMB brother that cares about another houdalin. May you find strenght in faith and memories.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. It definitely helps. Been feeling more myself the last few days… the fog is clearing some and Ive been starting to get some drive back. I fit the piece I made to fill the grill shell and welded it all up. Super happy with it. Its just roughed in, so I need to spend some more time on it, but stoked none the less!

I've been trying to keep myself distracted and figured out the perfect horn ****on for the tub. 39 Merc. I kept seeing it on epay and it was cheap so I took a gamble and got it. Also got some banjo fittings from Stromberg so I could play around with the fuel system, and while I was at it, I picked up a nos carter filter so I have all the pieces to play with. A piece at a time.

Working on your hot rod is one of the best the****utic things you can do. I lost my father quite a while ago and spent countless hours in the garage myself. I can't think of anything else I would have rather done then.

Your car has so much cool details on it. That dashboard is top notch. Keep at it.

Oh, planning on a folding top?

    Thank you!
I'm thinking I will need to do something. I've been adamant that the tub would be strictly *******…but if the family cruises in it, I will need to have something to protect them from the elements….

I just love your project and am so sorry to hear you've lost your daughter. I too lost my son years ago.
You will find that most parents share each others loss. Regardless of how long ago it may have been. Every time we hear of a parent who has lost their child the extreme pain returns.
I can only share what helped me.
Stay busy. This project is a good distraction,
Get plenty of rest. The extreme gut wrenching sorrow returns more often when you are tired.
Take plenty of tylenol/aspirin pain relievers. They also help mask the real pain you experience.
Be prepared to fight for your family. Look it up. Regardess of how a child p***es. A very large percentage of marriages fail after losing a child. Regardless how strong you think your marriage is be forewarned,
Am praying for you and your family.

    Back to the subject...
I came very very close to trading this even up for one of mine. I fell in love with it.
The open ****pit swayed me from pulling the trigger.

Thanks Matt! I was lucky enough to find just enough matching clamps to plum the fuel system. How's the sedan coming?

I took a bit of a hiatus from the garage over the holidays… and before I guess, with out getting into the details. I've been taking some time these last few weekends to get some of the ideas in my head and translate them to the tub…will they or won't they work. Its been a good therapy to get in the garage and be content at the end of the day. Also been really happy with what I've been getting done.
