I first met Mr. Zocchi in 1977 ... when he brought his "COOL 50" Merc to Andy's Picnic:

By 1978, Richard's Merc was finished and appeared in the July issue of STREET RODDER Magazine:

^^^^^ damn, I was like 16 or 17 when I took that picture of Zocchis Merc parked OUTSIDE Andys picnic. "late models" were not allowed inside.

Sorry to hear this. I am not a Custom guy but I did love his cars. I remember that Street Rodder in 1978.

His '56 Windsor has been all time favorite. It is a benchmark for me. R.I.P.

Make that three for the '56 Windsor, what a beautiful car from a little used make and model.
I've looked forward to seeing what Mr Zocchi created each year for the "Oakland" show or the Sacto Autorama, he never disappoints.
Another one of the greats gone but never to be forgotten. R.I.P. Richard.

Just found this out, sad to hear. Not trying to shame anyone, but how did this news not make the front of the Jalopy Journal?

    WOW. Nothing they don't need.
    RIP Sir.
    We're getting up there kids.
Pretty soon Keith Richards will be the only one left.

  20. Good grief. One of my favorite Zocchi creations was the 55 Plymouth he built a few years ago

    There's been three (3) threads about Mr. Zocchi's p***ing:
Earlier this week, I asked the Mods/Admins to merge these three threads ... to give the sad news a bit more visibility ... but my suggestion seems to have fallen on deaf ears (or @Ryan has a policy against the merging of threads).

Ryan has been away on holidays for the last week so if you asked him he may have just not gotten to it yet.

I didn't message Ryan directly (as I knew he was vacationing with his wife) ... I actually used the "REPORT" feature which sends a notification to all of the forum Admins & Moderators.
