Drove from California to Oklahoma this last month. The 235 Pulled a 13X6 enclosed trailer with 4800Lbs. Total Weight was 10,000Lbs. Was a fun trip. Took some video. Not much to watch But Im sharing the trip. Saw onelowc10 in Williams, Az. Nice to see H.A.M.B. members on your trip.

what a coincidence, I'm taking a little break from helping my son change the transmission in his 235 equipped 59 pickup.

    Gotta love them hills....

Just returned last Saturday from a 1800 mi round trip in the truck listed below, second trip to my mothers this year. They're aren't many of us that drive them that far.

Yes not many out there. Saw 2 1957 chevy trucks on the back of tow truck p***ing me. Guess Chrome wont get you home. Was a risk I wanted to take. Just to see if the old truck could make it. Was fun. Lots of folks met and not much broken. I was planning on more braking but not much did. I was hauling all my goods. Just leaving the navy to move back home. Tandom axle trailer with brakes.

A friend of mine retired from the Navy and now lives in Ow***o. He works for American Airlines now. I watched the whole video, just in case I decide to take a trip out there. Very cool.

Well thanks for watching guys. All I was thinking was "Im a lover of the other side of the hill" If you go dont take a big heavy trailer. Will make it more enjoyable.

That's great you made it ok. I've always wanted an older truck as a true daily driver but have always been afraid to because I need to pull a car on a small open trailer from time to time. You've given me tons of confidence!

Adding a bigger engine to the old trucks makes them pull better....and if you just add the bigger engine, it's still an old truck.

I love those long o'er-da-road trips, especially in an older vehicle. Great that you had just one problem - now you can definitely say the truck is reliable! Great vid, BTW ....

Way to man up !! I've taken a lot of long trips in old pickups and it really wears a person out.

In the Video I was running a 235 and 3:42 rear

  21. The 235 is a longer stroke smaller bore than the 230 that replaced it. It has more torque. many 235,s have pulled big loads in the old bob trucks. Bigger & better brakes are what is needed more than a bigger engine. The drum brakes where better when we had asbestos brake linings. The organic linings we have today are prone to fade out on a long down grade. good trailer brakes are a big help.
