So I've had this sterring wheel off some boat for a while and I finally got to restoring it..
now that BenD picked up my nailhead...I find myself craving to get back into the garage...I guess it's like a CRACK FIEND once you have a hit you need more...

Heres what it looked like I when I got it.

The whole wheel had small cracks so I had to sand off all the paint....

After moving and seting up my new garage i ended up breaking 2 of
the circles...I was bummed...So I got some good ol P.O.R 15 and basicly
covered the whole wheel..that stuff is like cement...after hours of sanding it off I was ready for BONDO>>> Boyd would be proud...I re-covered the whole wheel and went back to sanding,,,, Forever!!!

In Primer after lots of sanding

Now it will be sent to Bob Bleed to meet the CANDY PAINT that will match the MADSTER...

I can't wait to behind that and the nailhead scaring small children....

Evel, I had a boat wheel in my rpu when I first got it on the road. Looked cool and all but it was very prone to cracking. I don't think there is enough metal in the band for all the heavy turning. Good luck with yours. You planning in coming to the HOTROD-A-RAMA this year?

Looks great! I've been using POR15 putty to fill some m***ive cracks in a steering wheel. Works great, but I don't know if it would fix broken parts

I have to be candid here. I never really thought about adding a steering wheel to my bench grinder, but hey, I'm open to new ideas.

By the way, great looking wheel. I'm impressed
