    Thanks -

It's a little worn on the outside - but it runs and drives like a new car. I am shocked at how easy it is to drive and to shift. It feels much more modern than I had expected. The stance came out perfect - great work on the axle drop and customer service from Nostalgia Sid.

My sentiments exactly. 40 fords are wonderful driving cars....It really confuses me that some people think they need to modernize them

  20. Here's a question for you 40 Ford Guru's, does an 8 inch wheel fit under a stock 40 rear fender? A friend of mine is building one and he was asking me. He has a Chassis Engineering parallel kit under it with a 9 inch Ford. I told him to do some measuring and figure out his back spacing and go from there.

My '40 has 8.8" Ford with 7" wheels and Chassis Eng. parallel spring kit and 2.35X15 tires. It fits, but it's close. To pull an inflated wheel and tire you have to sorta scoot it to the rear and down rather than straight down. May require custom backspacing also.
Olscrounger, I'm sure all of us would appreciate your info here, as it is a forum:rolleyes:

Ok--8's don't fit too well-will rub inner wheel wells toward the front. 7's with 235/75/15 is what I have used on 9 or 10 40's and they must be the right offset or they will rub as well. Have a set of these with tires that I use when I do a 40-no two are the same-bolt these on then adjust as needed for correct backspace with spacers or whatever and have a set made-again no two are ever exactly the same nor are they exactly the same side to side as far as fenders etc. Hope this helps I have the offsets for both front and rear somewhere around here I think. Mine and the last two had 58 1/2 inch wide rears

  24. My coupe has a 58" wide 8" Grenada rear end, 15x7 with 3.75" backspace, and 235/70/15's, and I tend to rub the backside on uneven surfaces, like a driveway entrance. there is just a little room between the sidewall and fender lip. I would advise against an 8" wheel, unless it was a truck.

  25. Thanks guys. Now back to our regularly scheduled program. :)

I always enjoy Moriarity's pictures in all the different daily stops he makes. I always tell myself to take a few of these shots (like our local "Don's Drive Inn" hamburger stand, however I get side tracked and forget them. Here's a color shot taken a week ago! I had my own color cruise and ran into others doing the same. Love the '40 Fords!
