In the late 90's I spent quite some time working in Dallas, being brought up in the East end of London England, some of the "****ney" rhyming slang phrases were just second nature, and there was much confusion in the early days. Likewise, when I asked to borrow a rubber (eraser) from the owners wife, the look on her face was a true picture. So was mine when it was explained to me !!!!!!!!

  2. By pome, do you mean pommie or POM - aussie slang for a Brit - I was told that P.O.M.E. stands for Prisoner of Mother England - refering to our penal colony past.
Another explanation Ive heard is that Brits go as red as pomegranites in the Aussie sun.

P.O.M.E......is Prisoner of Mother England....given to the prisoners sent to Australia.....In a querky Aussie Sence of Humor...turned it round to call the ones staying in England Poms....as they are still stuck there in England...and they are in the "lucky country"....."Bobs your Uncle"....kiwi version...."there you go"...it may be a quick short cut to doing "it" but it will work.....so that means it would all be "Tickity Boo"
