Just wondering if anyone would have a diagram in laymen's term of how the overdrive is wired up on a 49/50 shoebox. I install a new speedo cable last week and to make a long story short when I was finish and re-wrapping all of the loose wires I had 1 long black wire (approx 3') that wasn't attached on one end (the wire looks as though it was cut), the other end is attached to I believe is the Overdrive throttle switch, but I'm not 100% sure. I have the Green Bible as well as another wiring diagram, that I'll try to attach. I don't know if I'm getting stupider as I get older or what the deal is, but for the life of me I can't figure where this wire goes. The reason for trying to figure this out is the OD isn't working anymore. This is on a 226ci 6cyl wiring diagram: http://www.cjhilton.com/Ford-wiring-diagram-s.jpg Thanks CJ Hilton email:cjh@cjhilton.com
Never had one of these but looking at the print, I'd say check at the O/D relay and make sure your getting power to it to engage. Same for O/D solenoid.

Thanks Overspray, there's a lot of good info on that thread & those sites, I need to spend some time tracing the wires. This car's electrical system has had so many splices done to it, I'm at the point were I just want to rip everything out and start fresh. CJ
I think the repro overdrive harness is available as a separate unit. I bought one for a 55 or 56 ford to use in my model A. It came with the nice cloth covered wire. It wasn't very expensive. overspray
The circuit check on the first site is a good place to start to trouble shoot the problem. First read both sites and get familiar with what all the parts are so you know what they are referring to. http://www.shoeboxford.com/ Here's another link I got from someone here on the HAMB. overspray
