Here's Skinny Jim just back from his vacation. Another view of Skinny Jim's cool 25 Dodge roadster. He pretty much drives the wheels off it. Here's one of Jim's stops for the day. The world famous Chloride murals. This pic shows part of the murals. Chloride is a little semi-ghost town just off Hwy 93 between Kingman, Arizona and Hoover Dam. Closer to Kingman at 25 miles out, it's an interesting place. A paved road - about 4 miles - takes alll the way to and through town and if you don't have 4 wheel drive, an easy 2 mile hike gets you to the murals. You'll p*** a large abandoned gold mine and stamping mill on the way. Skinny Jim and me posted pics of his Dodge roadster to show some other hot rod possibilities floating around out there. The car is a little larger than a Deuce roadster therefore more room for p***engers as well as engines. I understand that a lot of Australian rodders built these old Dodges into hot rods similar to T-buckets. Along with the visit to Skinny Jim's pals shop here's a pic of an under construction 29 A sedan. Pretty solid car contrary to the surface rust you see. The car was a resto, cleaned up, primed and stored outdoors for a while. The guy doing the resto didn't know about primer porosity and moisture, but he does now. It'll be relatively easy to get the rust off. Anyhoo, main reason for the pic is to show how the typical SBC no got an oil filler on intake or rocker covers problem was taken care of. Look close and you'll see a small commercially made o-ringed screw on cover bolt on to the rocker cover - or wherever - that allows oil to be put in the engine. They made a little curved adapter, but the right funnel would do the job with no adapters. Skinny Jim does have one question though . . . where the hell's Mr, Bones?
Wow, I love that Dodge Bros! Couldn't you see that over some solids with skinny rubber with a Red Ram and no hood? Yum.
That's an aftermarket accessory . . . Snow White? Not sure who makes it. Imo it's not really needed on this car, but the owner had the money so he went for it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I can't make the edit function work, so here's the Mural pic.
That's where it stays. Arizona yard art sorta thing. I am amazed at where we see vintage sheet metal sometimes. 32 chevy roadster sitting in an orchard with some other roadster tin. Model T roadsters, complete ***embled and complete dis-***embled at the back of a large piece of property. Model T cowl, boards, fenders in a private dump. Weird what we see sometimes....
Is he related to "Mr Bones"? You gotta love yard art, I chase parts in southeast Kansas and it amazes me that ole' farmers say "Oh no, its not forsale, I have had it in the front yard for years". Check that one to the map of old cars. Chris Nelson Kansas
Hey Jay..... Next time you talk to Skinny Jim, see if he wants to join our club. He seems like a happening kind of guy.
