Does anyone have any leads on an owner/driver named Frank Lavell from Michigan? I have a car that he drove at Torrey Pines in 1951, but there are very few details about him.

To date, I know that his first race was Palm Springs in Oct. 1951 then DelMar/Torrey Pines in Dec., then a no show at Pebble Beach. His Allard seems well known at Bonneville, but he disappears without a trace around 1959. This is him in 51 approaching turn 1 of the course - Courtesy of REVS institute.

His name was misspelled as Lovell once or twice. I'm hoping someone knew him or knows of any family members.

    Many thanks -

I don't think so. There was a Fred and Hilda Lavell that lived in Birmingham, MI. Hilda passed away in 1999 at the age of 90, same house they had been in at least since 1963. I'm guessing Fred was born 1900-1910. The attached pic from Bonneville in 1956 shows the crew wearing "Lavell Experimental Racing" logos, so I think Fred was ok on money . The last attachments are a random article on him building a 3-wheeler for F3. He wasn't afraid of trying.
