Thanks Edwardlloyd, I hammer the internet every day to find this gear and love it! Sent from my SM-N910G using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Finally got the chance to pick up the flatheads and front ends etc from glen Innes nsw. Drove from Adelaide, what a long drive! Around 38hrs in total! Got some of the parts i need though, fast forward my project with a big hit of parts! I'll post photos of my finds as i sort through buckets of parts and piles of gear boxes. I also am in negotiations with a 1950's aluminium caravan to tow along to long distance swap meets! Sent from my SM-N910G using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
My tool box in the back of the ute is also full of flatty parts! the caravan is a paddock find but will clean up well like the one in the photo has been. Sent from my SM-N910G using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
There is a luggage rack in amongst the parts that is in quite good condition. I thought it was model A but it looks wrong and might be early chrysler. I'll post some photos when i get the chance. Sent from my SM-N910G using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Yeah, there are two with canadian alloy heads. 4 out of the 5 engines will clean up well and have clean bores. I have alot of sorting and cleaning to do! 10 gear boxes in total in various condition. Sent from my SM-N910G using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I've been going through the top loaders tonight checking on vanpelt to identify them. I believe i have an early 39 pickup trans and a couple of earlier 37-38's which would make sense given the flatheads that came with the lot. The canadian 21 stud heads are pretty clean. I'm not sure if they originally came with flat top pistons in 37? But I'll check to see if it is standard bore tomorrow. Sent from my SM-N910G using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
got the first parch in, after all my hunting for parts it's time to do some work. Ideally i would have rounded up the parts before starting the post but i was too excited to share my find! . Sent from my SM-N910G using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
i keep a scrap bin in the shed for 1930's patch panels. Sometimes it saves me making patches from scratch. This time i cut part of the patch out of a 33-34 dodge sedan quarter window. Using the corner radius for the inner radius of the roadster quarter. Worked all right and saved me alot of time. Sent from my SM-N910G using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
luggage rack, might be 32 but seems too narrow. Any ideas? Sent from my SM-N910G using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
shed is full at the moment. I put the chassis on the rotisserie on the weekend to make it easy welding up some holes that won't be necessary using the copper block backing method. I still have to chase up front and rear end components to get it mocked up and rolling. I'm hoping the bendigo swap meet will be a winner for me! Steering box is going to be 40 ford along with the steering wheel, which will have a modified 56 horn button. Sent from my SM-N910G using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
just need to remove the box. I have been thinking of modifying the cross member for motor mounts, and maybe using the column out of this toasty old truck. I have spotted a good idea on here using the original motor mounts on the cross member for the 21 stud fabbing mounts to reach forward. Looked neat. When Chick and I were in Australia, I remember a buried yard outside of Tumit, It might be there, it might be gone,,, but it was loaded including a Pilot Ute, Ill have to find the photos
Cool! Alot of cars were buried, my grandpa has told me stories of pushing car bodies and porcelain signs etc. piled up into a ditch and covered up with dirt. Lost for ever. Sent from my SM-N910G using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
The most common i find is 1917-22 ford fenders. My grandpa has an 80 acre orchard and that was his method of cleaning up as was with most larger properties. Avoid carting it and getting someone else to bury it. Sent from my SM-N910G using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Flynn's is the yard outside Cooma in the Snowy Mountains. Tumut is nearby.. Still there and you still need to look out for the snakes!
Thanks snakes are ok, leave them alone and they'll leave you alone. Or carry a shovel! Sent from my SM-N910G using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
