So the car sat for about 25 years give or take, I picked it up in May of 2015. Been working on it ever since, took some pics along the way.
In college I had a cream colored 1962 ford Country Squire station wagon. rear facing third seat. 352, "wood" sides and trim. Great cruiser. Nice job on the red one....```
Hey everyone, thanks for the comments, much appreciated. Here's some more progress photos. enjoy. Took my time collecting the parts, everything to stop and go, shoes, cylinders, lines, water/fuel pump, belts, hoses, gaskets and such. Did all the work over the course of a week.
eodnam...Those DO make nice, comfortable cruisers. You've done well with it so far ! What are you doing on the '53 Plymouth in the above photo ? Jonnie www.legends.thewwbc.net
Hey Jonnie, Much thanks, its been fun building it. As for the Plymouth, it belonged to a buddy, I believe he just sold it.
Love your car. Dad bought one new in '62. Even for a kid that was a cool car. It rusted away to nothing by 1970, but had made multiple road trips up and down the east coast before its last gasp. Enjoy, post more pics.
Update time kids... Had some time to get some much need repairs done. Had a category 3 power steering leak to repair, 3 bad hoses and a leaky pump. I pulled it all out, cleaned, rebuilt, and repainted the pump and valve. Had to shop around for all the hoses but got them all changed out too. Picked up some new mirrors too... 58 thunderbird halo mirrors. Sent from my SM-N910T using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
When I was a kid, our next door neighbors were a family that moved here from Spain. They bought a brand new '62 Rangoon Red Country Sedan. They put every dealer accessory and every J.C.Whitney accessory they could possibly put on that car, and I used to think that it was the coolest car ever. I've pretty much liked red station wagons ever since!
When I was in High School my next door neighbor "inherited" his mom's 61 Ford wagon when she stepped up to a 63. Spent many of a hour and had a lot of fun in that wagon, I'd love to find a clean 61/62 now days. Just my opinion but I don't like the skirts on it. I like skirts alright but not on cars. I'd run some Torque Thrush and blackwalls with a bit of a nose down rake if it were mine. Here again, just me, not my car so carry on.
Been a while since my last post, but I've been putting in work. I found a parts car about a 2 months ago, a 62 Mercury Monterey, I got pretty much a complete car minus the front end. No motor or trans, but plenty of parts I can use. The frame is good, the plan is to clean it up. bag it, then swap over the wagon body. For now I have been installing interior parts into the wagon like a dash clock, heater box and controls, knobs, dash lights, dome lights, back up lights, and door panels. I figure next I will cut up the body of the car, make some car yard art with it or something.
I had 2 of those. One I sold and it became a demo derby car. The other I shortened by 3 feet in a mishap. I'd like another one some day.
Thanks My wagon was saved from the demo derby. Sat in a field for 25 yrs, some guy bought it for the demo derby, a buddy of mine talked him out of it and bought the car, few weeks later it was mine.
