A buddy and me are going there tommorrow, its around 40 miles from my house, I thought i had been to all the near by salvage jards here in southern Wis. Kinda excited, its supposed to have a good collection of older stuff. Anyone on here been there? What can i expect? How about any other salvage yards in southern Wis. that i might not have been to. Zebs auto salvage,it is in Tiggerton WI. that is alittle north of Iola. back a few years ago,he was featured in old car weekly,has tons of old cars and trucks,good guy to deal with.
I'm About 40 miles from Jacks but haven't been there in about 10 years .... good yard ... I'm closer to Vans Auto salvage they have more cars, well they did 10 years ago....but I know the guys at Vans so I get better deals ! Have you ever been to Vans ? .....
Been to Jack's a couple times. Good guys and always sumthin new to see. How about southwest WI. Golden Sands in Boscobel or Eldon Miller's(Mueller) in Viola? Both small yards with a lot of history. Good guys too, but hard to get to know.
I have been to Jack's a million times. Most of it is a swamp. You can find some things but they usually want you to tell them exactly what you want and that is it. I have also been kicked out once before for "disrespecting the cars" I was just pulling a taillight off that I was PAYING for. Sometimes the guys there are nice and sometimes crabby. Do not show up after 11 tommorrow! You will not get in! Good luck
Louver Dude, Its been along time since i have been to Vans always meanen to get back up there. About 15 years ago i was haulen onecar and towing another and blew a tire on the truck, about 8:00 pm in the middle of the sticks, no spare and along came the old man from Vans ( i dont recall his name) but he helped get the tire off and drove me to Vans salvage and had a fellow who was there mount up a new tire and gave me a ride back to my truck. I will never forget that ,awesome people. gtnrkix; Golden sands is next on our list. but thanks for the tip on the Eldon Miller's(Mueller) in Viola? Had not heard of that one. They'll be loaded by then anyways. Be careful with the big loudmouthed guy with the glasses... he used to have a big beard, but someone told me he cut it off... but yeah. Jack is cool... but that other guy is a fucking asshole.
you can't forget about the peg-leg guy, always an ass, but one time he was cool, and telling me all the bs stories about him drag racing nailheads....
My first trip to Jack's went real good . Way to much to see, alot of old tin in there acouple of 39-40 ford sedan deliverys, model a bones, alot of old cads, Jack himself was a cool fellow to deal with, prices were reasonable. We then hit Sullivains on the way home, not the old stuff like Jack's but still found some scores. guys were decent and prices too. Later gang
