A guy I know has some stuff out on a farm he'd let go cheap. I loaned him my camera since its out in the sticks. I am not the most savvy at ID'ing old frames and the pic isn't the best. I can get this one cheap if its worth saving. Seems like my friend parted out a ford that had holes in the side of the frame like this and the transverse spring out back. Any help I'd appreciate it sorry for the bad pic
Man that sure is a ****py pic. Looks like 35-40 Ford. Hydraulic brakes? Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
I was going to say 40 Ford because of the look of the hubcaps, but from that picture it could be anything. Don
What was chasing him when he took the photo? I see parts and pieces to get someone's hot rod up to roller status even if the frame is junk. Since it doesn't look like it's been laying in the mud the frame should be in good shape if the front isn't bent. I'd go after it just for the front spindles and brakes.
Horrid picture, but appears to be a '39-'40 Mercury frame. Body mounts are similar to 41 and up Ford/Mercury.
Thats what I was thinking. Originally his dad was going to make a trailer out of it for the farm. Tried to refocus it and change for better pic here. I didn't take the pic.
ElP when I say I had friend who just parted one thats the pic and that car was on my property. ROFL. I thought through the ****py pic it looked very similar. Heres that car when we loaded it
I got to run over there and take pics today. appears to be 40up frame, wheels have ford deluxe caps and mercury caps not sure how to tell the difference.
If you look closely at the enhanced version of the attached picture I think I figured out why he was in such a rush when he took the photo! Is that a damned sasquatch?
THe brakes, spindles, rear spring, rear crossmember, wheels, front spring would be good peices. Hey I need a 37-41 front spring... looks like he won the burnout compe***ion back in the 40's.
Looks like lots of salvageable parts. Even the Olds. Brakes, trim, spindles, wheels, shocks, hubs, lights, frame, bumpers, visor, springs, steering parts, front and rear axles, wishbones, etc. If you can, buy it all. Make a quick buck off stuff you aren't gonna use and save it from the s****per, it deserves a second lease on life.
Sun visor with hardware might catch coin, are those aftermarket chrome pieces next to the headlights too?
Vandals out in the boonies, to bad. Hope they got lost, ran out of gas and had to walk home. Looks like it would have been a decent project.
perhaps a trade school or high school that has bodyshop cl***es would be happy to let their students work out on the Olds, and you could get a reduced price (like barber colleges do) on the work when it's finished. dj
I see lots of good stuff on that Olds...Those bumpers look solid enough. The visor has to be valuable to someone!
well I finally talked with the guy and made a deal on the axles, and rolling ch***is. I might go back later for the oldsmobile.
That Olds looks solid enough to be a super parts car if nothing else, I bet you could sell those doors and fenders in a hurry. The visor is a couple hundred bucks laying there, too. And what shape is the V8 in it, in?
Steering wheel, bumpers tail lights, interior lights ,dash chrome ,glovebox door, sun visor's, door handles, dash knobs, I can think of several money worthy parts there. just what I mentioned would bring a couple hundred on Eb&&.
Owner is going to get to borrow heavy equipment and I said I'd grab the olds but we'd decide on price when I look at it closer. I don't need it but shoot I better grab it so it doesn't waste away and trade/sell it here. said I was the last guy who asked about it in 30+ years and he'll be glad knowing its helping someone elses project
