Earlier this year I went over 100k miles in my daily driver only vehicle '49 Chevy 1/2 ton with a '56 car 235. I am now going to have to replace my second set of Michelin 215-85R 16 tires with new. Yes folks that's over 105 K miles on only two sets of tires!

I'm presently having a set of 17" artillery wheels powder coated and will be mounting 235- 75R 17's on them. The 16" wheel/tire combination is 30.4", the 235/17" combination is 30.8". In addition, the new tires will be 6 lbs lighter per tire, maybe slightly faster acceleration? Maybe too insignificant to tell.

Thanks for all the help over the years.

Congrats on the mileage, wow! Be sure and let us have a peek at the artillery wheels when done.

  3. Very cool!
I had a OT car with over 260k miles on it, hard to tell exactly. Still running OK when I sold it!

Pics? For mileage, you can't beat Michelins. Best tire made.

Congrats. That's a good bit of miles for a 65 plus year old vehicle. Just proves that if ya take care of them they will last. Its not unusual to get even more out of newer rides. I put 330 on a OT truck before I sold it and I have 340 on my current OT truck.

An old friend gave me a set of wheels with original pin stripes. The wheels were so nice I decided to go with Dyna-Beads as I didn't have the heart to put on ugly wheel weights to balance. The Michelins show perfect wear, 54 k miles on the set.
