I finally finished my 64Olds 98 Custom Sport. I made a few mild changes that include shaved door handles and fuel door, louvered hood, dechromed sides. The engine is a BBC 468 cu in. Putting out 525 HP. It has a 4L60E ****** and an Olds posi running 3:43 gears. The interior has a custom made Dakota Digital instrument panel, Flaming River tilt steering column and wheel, Lokar shifter. The upholstery was redone using original material and design. It is a fun car to drive, and very fast. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Beautiful Olds 98, question if this is not too much trouble. Was the steering column a great deal of work to install? I'm wanting to update my 64 Jetstar 88 with a tilt column and want to retain the column shift! Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
The column was fairly easy to install. The only problem I found was the mounting clamp on the original was 2 1/4", and the Flaming River column is 2". I also installed a floor brace to secure the column. You will also need to modify the firewall seal. I used a Painless wiring kit, and everything just hooked right up. Good luck, should be an easy swap. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Very nice ! The '63-'64 Olds are very cool cars...rarely seen, and sadly, overlooked when someone's looking for "that next project". And, the '98's are really "monster machines" ! That 126" wheelbase, and, 222" length, plus two tons to carry, does make for a great interstate cruiser though ! Enjoy ! Jonnie www.legends.thewwbc.net
I just wanted to add that the car is for sale, if anyone is interested $45,000. Thanks for all the nice comments. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I also have a 64 Jetstar 88 and have been contemplating the same thing and want to retain my original steering wheel. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
