Nice job. I like the suction cups idea, since I'm usually in the garage by myself any mechanical advantage is good.
For you "workin' alone" guys, I've also used "blind nuts" to secure things when you can't get to the other side of a panel to start/hold a nut on the other side. If the forces aren't real important but you don't like the idea of a sheet metal screw, Lowe's has rubber/neoprene based expansion blind nuts that work like a champ. 1/2" hole, pop it in, tighten it up. I experimented with a "destructive test" and I was surprised at how strong they are. And I'll be dead before the rubber gives out...... maybe... ahahah
