A skateboard has been my longest consistant ride... since the 70's.

I for one fuckin' care... and I think skateboarding definately ties in with the HAMB.

Yeah Barnett had a post on sketchkult of his 'kustom' deck that he painted. Wanted him for the artshow (skateboards specifically) and to catch some bowl time @ Mabel D. but he's outta town-bummer:(

Ryan has stated many times he does'nt mind an occasional skate post on the HAMB.

You should look at his tag line sometime.

  10. Skatefink...you just blew the cover on my alter ego! HAHA! I'm puttin the Wa-Gone© to good use, haulin big boards around.

    Jeepers...we'll hook up, yet!

67imp...you skate? We should get together for a session some time.

Zman, that park looks like a ton-o-fun! where is it?

And yes...I did land that fs air. I just learned them the day that pic was taken. It's on a 7' wall. After a couple more tries, I even managed to get a couple of wheels out. I'm headed back on Monday, for another round of fs airs...gonna try to get all the wheels out. We'll see. I'm not doin too badly, considering I just started skating again in December, after a 20 year break from it. Regardless...I don't think Cab has anything to worry about...his skating job is safe from me.:D

  11. Hey nor cal nic...yes, I am regular foot. I push mongo, too! HAHAhAHA!

    seriously.

Oh...A new buddy of mine took the pic. His name is Joe S, but I can never remember how to spell his last name.

..........sorry to have wasted your time Rob. You're right. This board is for HOT RODS. It's just that I found that shot on another board and know that Dan was really excited about learning some new moves and wanted to share it with his HOT ROD "family" that otherwise would have missed out on it.
It was done with respect for Dan and the guys that I knew would be happy for him..........

Skate, no need to appologize.. skateboards seem to be the one off-topic we all have agreed can be posted without a fight (probably because we all have had one, or wanted to be like Barnett and catch air.. thou some of us have put on a few lbs and can not do that anymore (like me). ...,

love the boards you got.. I will need you to bring some of your collection to showdown for me to admire...

  14. fuck yeah Barnett. I too am skating everyday again, I have just as much passion for it as hot rods. That is a nice frontside air by the way.

    Barnett,
Cool photo and Congrat's! I know the first time i learned how to catch air (frontside) was one of the happiest days of my life, so i know the feeling very well. Then when i learned backside airs, that's when i really appreciated what skateboarding had to offer for me and where i could take it to the next level.
Skate fink, thanks for posting, never knew Barnett had a strong love for the sport/lifestyle of skateboarding, that's awesome.

everyone starts as a beginner in everything they try and do, so appreciate the achievement of others where ever their skill level may be at that time.

It's the passion, dedication, perseverence and creativity that brings skateboarding closer to the art and lifestyle of what hot rods represent.

Keep ripping those lines (skate and Pin) on and off the board!

Liars. It's Jdubbya. Here's a pic after he fell down, went boom.......

  21. Thanks for posting the pic, Pat...although it did catch me off guard. I didn't expect to see it pop up here. But, yeah...I was stoked as hell to learn fs airs! 20 years ago, I skated ditches and ramps and couldn't do fs airs. Oddly enough, I could do Indy airs back then, but just below the coping. The other day, when I learned fs airs, I was actually gonna work on bs airs, but my buddy Joe (the photographer, and fellow skater) talked me into trying fs instead. That pic is about the 3rd or 4th one I tried, I think.

Thanks for the compliments/encouragement, guys. You gotta know somebody would say something about a skate thread on here. I can't really blame them...it is a weird exception for Off Topic stuff. :)

Cab...thanks for the good words....it means alot coming from THE skater on the HAMB! I skated hard from about '76-'84 or '85...then I got caught up in partying and working and all the other crap that takes you away from the things that REALLY make you happy. This past December 26, I had a sudden "awakening" and decided I really NEEDED to skate again...for my physical and mental well being. That day, I went to the local public park and hit vert for the first time in 20 years. Best decision I've made in a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time. :D Now I'm skating at least twice, if not three or four times a week....ditches, the skate park, garage sessions...whatever!

........actually, I left "skidmarks" in the concrete there! I was a skateguard at the Concrete Surf in Rosedale when they were building the park in Edgewood/Joppa. I stopped by one day and for some reason, didn't have shoes in the car but had my board. The young guy working in the shop (trailer at the time before they opened) gave me a brand new pair of Vans to wear to check out the freshly poured 'crete. Guess it was still a little tender because I left faint tracks in one place.
After it closed, I rode the vert a few times on my BMX cruiser. THAT was hairy with the water in the bowl with God knows what floating in there.......

Barnett, I usually get on a board about every three or 4 years for a little while but have been back in action 1 to 2 times a week since October. These new concrete parks is what lured me back.I've noticed the new parks is what pulled alot of old skaters back out.

I have always sucked but it's still alot of fun.I do no tricks whatsoever. If I'm lucky I might get a wheel out if I don't get scared. If I catch air thats because I'm bailing out. My goal before quitting again is to just be able to grind both axles. I actually just retired my 1986 Alva board and went a little more new school just thinking it might help me out. I was wrong , but like the new board anyway.

I'm definately bringing my board to the Roundup and planning on checking Mabel Davis out at some point that weekend. The skating definately has slowed my coup project down but at 42 I thought I better skate now while I can.I will be working on projects the rest of my life.

    See ya at the Roundup
and if you get up this way you have to check out the park in Allen.

I skate goofy and push mongo.

  25. Cool, man. I won't be at the Round Up, though...I'll be tattooing in Ohio. We'll have to skate this Spring or Summer.

........there's a concrete place in Lansdown that is still in operation. We used to go to a big drainage ditch that was along I95 around the Laurel exit. The guys called it "Still Waves" Park along the on ramp and hop the cops didn't come. Also a blacktop park in York, PA called "Thunderdome"..............

Hey all you god damn wood pushers! I just finished my Half pipe in my back yard! So this is an open invite to all Hambers to come skate!

I never had time to skate so this fixed that problem.

It is 5 1/2 foot on one side then a 6 foot spine with a little twinkie/speed hump and the other side is 6 foot

soon it will have a tombstone and a grind ledge you can launch onto

I am in Phoenix Arizona and am serious that if anyone is around here ever then p.m. me. My whole back yard is cars, scoots, and now a huge halfpipe

it is 20 feet wide and 54 feet long

I was gonna post an invite but figured it was too off topic
