Hi All - I've got a set of 17" wires I'm thinking of running on my A roadster. The car is fendered, and I want to get an idea of what's look like before I get tires. Anybody have pictures? Greatly appreciated
After am***ing a small horde of 16" V8 wire wheels (so I'm covered no matter what!) I've now snapped to the cool, wide-open see-thru of the 17s! With the right set of Bias Plies these are the real stuff. Excellent for that 'tall look'. Even 'mixed-up', (17s on the rear with 7.00s, 16s front with 4.50s) they are a truly proportionate choice. The variables in colors chosen make them anything but 'mundane'... At the risk of offending any 'lately identified types', I say "Thank the wheel gods for 17 inches!"
Me too on the 16's, but I have a few 17's and a pair of 18's just in case for the rear to take up some space.
Fronts are 5.25/5.50 x 17. Car is on stock suspension, should look good with a 2" drop or so to fill the wells
18" wheels came on '32 only. 17" wheels came on '33 and '34. '35 was Ford's last year for wire wheels and only year for 16" wires. Ford's production numbers for '35 were way up from the previous years, so the 16" wires are the easiest to find even though they were only made one year. I have a couple of 17s that are too rusted to use on a car, have them fastened to the garage wall to roll up air hose and electrical cords.
What a *****in picture. *****in truck and *****in house wow. Black and white poster= I'd buy one to hang in the garage. Just photoshop out the power lines.
