I am hoping @HemiDeuce sees this, he knew a guy that cast wheels locally in the sixties, they might be from that guy.

  2. Keystones yes, but not Klassics

    Thanks for the info!

They are For Sale. Would be the finishing touch on a period correct Hot Rod!

  4. A little more on the Halibrand II story. When putting my previously owned sedan together over the years I was convinced it needed Halibrand Sprints. Got a set of 15x10 for the rear from a buddy who wanted wider Welds on the rear of his. Wouldn't sell me the fronts so picked up a set from Halibrand in Wellington Kansas on one of my business trips to Wichita. Friend of mine was President at Triumph Industries who had money in the Halibrand company. He offered me a warehouse full of Halibrand stuff they had repossessed. Only needed $400k. Lots of wheels and quick change parts but no way to know if they were any good and I didn't have $400k 32 in 07 001 (640x480).jpg

Interesting thread, Love this type with all the experts giving out important advice, definitely agree w/comments that wheels/tires can make or break the "Look" of a ride. In high school machine shop I took 15" Chevy wheels, drilled out rivets, pressed center out, reversed rim, lined up holes and welded back together and redrilled stem hole, magic, cheap reversed wheels. I was not aware that having the correct traditional lug nuts factored in (nice chart showing types) and Surely will take this in account next time I go shopping for wheels/nuts and post Pic's for HAMB opinion, because I would be devastated if I did not have everyone's approval. Started buying wheels back in 1964, all of my cars/ trucks/ suvs had custom wheels until they became a standard on new vehicle's, actually have Pic's (albums) showing wheels from back then, 60's and my favorite still leans toward chrome reverse, have smoothies now, I learned today that I have to throw them away and find some rusty, clapped out wheels, that have to be widen, reversed, polished and have chromed, should only be around $1000 or so. Everyone have a nice day ! I know I will. Posted sincerely and sarcastically this AM. Like the OP sence of humor, winding the Mass's up.

Wheels?? I'm diggin' the US Royal Masters. Those were the Cat Daddy in the Atlanta area during the '60's.

Here are the last few New Wheels I used, for what I think is a Vintage Look:

    - Chevy Blazer Steelie
    - Rocket Racing
    - Ridler

Sounds like those penis enlargement ads that have been showing up on here lately are actually some very accurate targeted marketing...

I'm not going to get to excited over period correct, but the idiots that have a real nice hot rod and put 22"s or whatever with those low profile tires sure know how to ruin a car. I don't care what kinda lug nuts they have.

Are the flat-spoke Cragar SS the only thing available now? I know they make a non-uni-lug drilled for 5 on 5 1/2". I assumed they were as original. Bummer.

Nice car for sure. Am I losing it or are those front wheels fitted inside out?

  17. Unfortunately even these are not quite right. The new version is a one piece casting whereas the originals were steel rims/cast centers. Much more funky and great looking.

  18. Willys36 - Yeah, they aren't the same. Can't help it, the look of Raders from the day appeals to me.

I don't think you can go wrong with a nice 5 spoke wheel. The American Racing ones look so close to the originals from the 60's. I enhanced the spoke color on mine to match the Gray color on the body. Planning on another set for a current Custom Station Wagon 2door conversion I am doing.

these are a mix of 'old n new' rims are 15x7, 5 on 5-1/2
used reproduction corvette rallye rings to cover some crappy chrome on the steel section. Center cap is also 'new' with a wrap or two of tape to make em fit up tight.

photo credit to Larry Helms... my truck though 14711394_1776510485961398_5903978836686685359_o.jpg

American Rebel f.hawks modern wheel with a classic look of the Fenton Hawk. Not exact replica obviously, but gets a lot of head scratching at car shows
