Here's a few of my '30 tub at the '14 VHRA Pendine Sands Hot Rod Races. We completed the build the night before driving it 300 miles to Pendine/ 9.jpg 13.JPG 3.jpg

I love this thread; phaetons or tubs are the way to move....and its the perfect addition for the family!
Below a scan from Rod & Custom of Oct. 1964, even the fighter squadron commander and ex-race driver wanted to have a tub!
Below the 1919 T that I drive and join!

Tub proportions are tough to get just right, as most guys seem to 'push' the radiator (and engine!) too far forward. Yours has a perfect profile, with engine lined up with chassis at the right level, hard to get that, with radiator right in scale.
Ride height is excellent, careful planning is obvious.

Jitney Jake's tub came to mind right away. Love the pic of him and K.C. Winkler. Such a Betty.

Wonder what year the pic was taken of the Oakland '34 tub (post #30)

As some of us were discussing the first years of 'flames', look on the hood and front of hood sides.
AND NO, 'Von Dutch' didn't invent flames. Neither did Jeffries...but they sure did a job with them!

The way I heard the story about flames: Shortly after Gilmore Race track opened there was a picture of race car in the coverage of the race, in the local paper, AND  flames were coming out
of the hood, back onto the cowl of the race car. (in black and white) Within a week every wanabe hot rodder had painted flames on their "GOW JOB"

So goes the story..... sounds good to me.......

JeepersOOcreepers, think twice about that. To these guys cutting that Tudor would be a No No. Take my word!

  20. That's my rpu out there with Drew Strunk's phantom phaeton. I plan on turning my rpu into a tub someday like this.

A few years ago, everybody that found a '21-'27 T tub wanted to discard the rear section, for a 'Bob tail' or short bed roadster pickup.
My '27 tub was the lucky recipient of one of those discards...(the rear section of mine had been in a small grass fire, luckily fire was put out before it got any further forward...front had some bullet holes, .38, looked like. Smoothed out with oxy/acet, would rather have had some more bullet holes in the back section than fire...
Anyway, now have a nice rear section with doors, don't like 'A' frame underneath.
May use my '29 Chevy rails...(thicker cross section, and fit body width nicely)

  23. I'm in love with this one...
