IMG_2068.JPG I found this 55'-56' mercury Montclair today. I though you mercury guys could tell me if it's worth dragging home as a parts car for cheap? It has major roof damage and panel damage but it looks like a complete car with good bumpers/grill/seat frames/ 292 y block, no clue what the automatic trans is. I'm digging the mercury valve covers. I have been trying to talk a local guy out of his 55' mercury monterey, is there much interchange between the two?

Would be a good one to part out. A few 52-54 Ford guys use those front bumpers on their cars, it's a good look. As stated, those beltline two-tone trims are worth decent money, as are the quarter panel moldings, plus I'm sure you could sell the dash, ect. Lots of interchange with the Monterey/Montclair, basically the same car with different trim levels.

  5. The 1955 Mercury is unique, the Monterey and the Montclair were not the "same car with different trim levels", the Monterey had a different roof line all together. The Montclair roof was lower and sleeker which carried over to all 1956 Models.

If you get the car, try to get the windmill parts too. They're becoming valuable.

Sure the roofs are different, but the roof is smashed all to hell on that parts car anyway, anything good on that Montclair will fit the Monterey.

If the quarters and lower panels are as nice as they look in the photos, it may be worth looking for another roof, maybe leave a couple inches out.

I would buy it.....some pretty good trim and parts still left on that car at the very least....gettin' hard to find these days, if someone finds they may need them....it's gettin' slim pickings to find parts for these models anymore.

302GMC, I cruise the local craigslist ads daily. I don't think I have seen that 4dr Montclair. I wonder if the 4dr. and the 2dr. share the same roof?
