  9. Syd Barrett, co-founder of the band Pink Floyd, with his Pontiac.

"I was meant to go and shoot Syd Barrett upstairs in his flat, but when I saw this car outside I thought: “**** it – I need to take pictures of that, too.” It was an incredible prop to have plonked there. If I recall correctly, it was a Pontiac Parisienne, a push-****on convertible, and it was pink. Mickey Finn, who became the bongo-player for T-Rex, had picked it up at an auction, and Syd had swopped his Mini for it. But he didn’t have a clue how to drive this m***ive American car, and it basically didn’t work anyway. You can see the back wheel is a bit wonky. Eventually, it got towed."

The car does not look pink to me - May be the only pink was floyd?
Sad that Syd eventually "got towed" as well... Too fast, too much drugs, went nuts.

Earl Scheib, he started out at $19.95 for a paint job. Look up Scheiß to see what it means in English.
The paint jobs were exactly that.

I see people to this day that clear their cars off like this, sometimes even less.

1964 my brother took his grey/white top '57 mor door Chev to them. Had it painted black $29.95.
Drove it to work the day after it got painted....came home and 90% of the roof peeled off in the wind.
No sanding let alone a wash job before applying the paint.
Took it back and they shot the roof again.....this time it stayed on!

What's that old adage... "You get what you pay for."
