Hi everyone, I need some info from the manual ****** guys. I picked up a good 1984 Mustang GT 5 spd transmission that I am considering installing into my 53 Merc HT. I know that most of the parts for these ******'s will interchange between each other however will the tail shaft from the S10 ****** swap out with the Mustang tail shaft? I need the shifter mover forward in order to clear the bench seat and do not want to notch or have to have the seat redone.

  2. It should. I did the same thing in my 56. The only thing you want to be sure is that the shift rod for the forks is the same diameter. I think, though not 100% sure that there may be some differences. You'll also need to address your speedo drive gear location as the S10 is different than the Ford. Kato Kings who is on here can machine that for you. Modern Driveline also makes the S10 type tailshaft with the speedo port in the Ford location ( I think).

Little off topic. Will a T10 behind my 302 work without having to notch seat
    in my 54?
