In today's mail I got my official PA ***le for the 1948 Jawa motorcycle. PennDOT put the old ***le number in the box for the VIN. I guess they are not used to seeing 5-digit VINs. They also put the wrong date in the box for "Date Originally ***led". The date is supposed to be 2/27/50; they used 3/4/06. I'll go to the notary on Monday and have them start the process of getting everything fixed. I hope that they don't expect me to pay to get the ***le corrected.
When I got the ***le back for my 38 Ford it came back as a watercraft, they were not used to seeing the 85hp on the ***le, I spotted it at the dmv and handed it back, it came back fixed with no cost to me. hope this helps, Steve
I bought a 48 style chrysler out of Washington registered as a early 49 (for some reason that bothered me.) went to ***le it in Oregon and the vin numbers were identical except there were 4 zeros on the vin tag 3 zeros on the paper ***le. they would not accept it. I had to go to washington DMV (or what ever they call it there) then to the Washington state police, back to the washington DMV. then wait for three weeks to get a corrected ***le then back to Oregon DMV for another inspection. then wait another four weeks to get my Oregon ***le IT CAME BACK REGISTERED AS A ****ING 65 CHRYSLER FOUR DOOR. I couldn't believe my eyes, called DMV they gave me a number in Salem to call. the gal I talked to said no problem send it to me attension Dorthy and I correct it for you. so I told her it was a 48 chrysler and she fixed everything and I had a 48 chrysler with a 48 chrysler ***le. A month later I sold it to a guy in Washington. I hope he didn't have the problems I did with the wrong year
Remember John this is Penndot and they don't make mistakes. Gov. Ed needs the money! I just got ***le back for my 1937 Chevy Coupe and it was correct the first time! Good Luck!

I have it on both good advice and personal experience to avoid Notaries and AAA when dealing with the Pennsylvania DMV. The prescribed method is to take the paperwork to your local state representative and have them walk it through the DMV. Quicker, safer and more correct.
