Hey all, been trying to find EELCO polished/chromed, finned Buick 401 valve covers for my next project. Any thoughts on where to find? I've tried traditional places like Ebay and EELCO's website. I have acquired a dual quad EELCO intake that I've found to be very rare. Looks like EELCO officially went out of business a few years back. See these two pictures of the intake I purchased, and the valve covers I'm looking for.
I have 2 WEIAND castings for the Buick. These were extras when I did the IVO "SHOWBOAT" clone. I had the original car at the shop and pulled a cover off one of the engines to use as a pattern because originals (8 of them) could not be found. Mounting studs would need a minor tweek because the covers shrunk a little (1/8" overall) due to using a cover as a pattern.
Here's a pair now on that site here in Australia, are they what you need? $227 & free shipping to you from down under!. I've purchased from this seller previously and found them to be reasonable. Rocket Industries down here also sell them. O'Brien Truckers and Nailhead Buick sell their versions as well.
Like John (above) says: Do a HAMB search on Eelco before you send your money as there are tons on unhappy customers who reportedly got ripped off. For example: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/eelco-worst-seller-ever.1036810/#post-11741473
I gave a pair of EELCO valve covers away, didn't want that name on my engine, I ground the EELCO name off my intake manifolds before I had them ceramic coated. I got a great pair of valve covers from Russ Martin, American made!
Els E. Lohn not only started EELCO, but was a founding member of SEMA and past president of the Speed Equipment Manufacturers Association. It's too bad that some asshole has sullied the name to the point that people don't want to recognize a true pioneer in the industry.
