That is cool in its own way. I would like to see that close up. I have seen Renault Gordinis but nothing like this one.

Downtown Dallas, 1950s. Visible are such landmarks as the Adolphus Hotel, the hotels Lawrence and Jefferson, and the Magnolia building.

That's the Bobby Grim car that had Herb Porter's turbo Offy in it. Amazingly, it ran all day and finished 8th on the Mt. Fuji road course complete with turbo lag and a two speed transmission. The roll bar has been cut off in the photo; probably to fit in the space limitations of the cargo plane itself as the car is tied down on top of a freight container that likely contains a much smaller rear engine car. The missing hoop top was probably bolted back on for the race itself. It looks like the end of the nose has been made removable for the same reason.

    Great photo!

BTW, there was an interview with Grim in his later years where he stated that the turbo Offy in the roadster never really got a fair shake at that year's 500. Because it took so long to spool up the turbo charger he was pretty slow coming off of the corners and the car sputtered until it got quite a distance down the straights. Grim said he had a month long argument with Porter about trying a lower rear end gear to get the turbo working earlier but Porter was adamant that he had figured out the right gear and he wasn't going to change it. Grim thought that the car could have started much farther up in the field instead of from the last row.
