Anyone running a Nissan/Toyota/etc motor in a rod? I know it's not "trad" but I think those something like a 240Z motor would be a sweet in an old rod...

I no it's not Japanese, but I recently bought an '06 Solstice 2.4L with the 5 spd manual. It will go in an A couple on '32 rails.

22r was around for from late 70's to atleast the late 80's in everything fropm celica's to 4runners. Near indestructable. While working on the chevy I've been collecting parts for a modified. I've got a 280ZX motor and a side draft setup off of a 240. should look cool, run strong and reliable, and with the 5 speed (nissan even use borg warners for a while) I can run a 4.11 rear and still be streetable. they're lite too should be less than 450 lbs for engine and tranny.

I've got a 240z for going around corners and the aluminum valve covers polish up so nicely that I've often fantasized about running one in a hoodless car. Unfortunately, they're about as heavy as a small-block ford with aluminum heads...

  11. its not in a hot rod but im running a built Isuzu 1.8L. Alot of Isuzu trucks and cars ran these engines so its perty easy to find em and they came fuel injected in Impulses. You can get any performance part you could ever want for em you just have to order from Austrailia. Theres some guys running up 350rwhp with em...

The little Datsun Roadsters of the 60s had a sturdy 1200cc four banger that was often equipped with dual carbs. I've long thought they'd be the natural choice for a 60s flavored track roadster project, and they're not too hard to find or afford, either!

Oh man, is this thread just a bad nightmare? Why don't you all just dump the 'old rod' part and just keep these motors in the japanese cars they belong in? Then you can add some big vaccuum cleaner exhaust systems, maybe some nitrous & bling wheels and be all fast n furious with your bad selves.

Man oh man... A 22R Toyota motor in a hot rod? An 80's Jap motor is NOT a traditional custom / hot rod subject.. Please for my own sanity make this thread disappear.

If loving jap motors in hot rods is right, i want to be wrong..

You are right, i suppose. Thus, i'll just ignore this tread like i should have, and shut up.

But before I do, please let me throw one more smart ass comment-- Kragen auto parts has these glowing blue light kits that you can put underneath your hot rod as well. They too are available and inexpensive. These lights could really make a jap motored rod bling as you glow along through the night and also might help highlight the brilliant looks of the 22R jap motor.

Crack cocaine is available and inexpensive too...
