I'm trying to find out if the rear quarter sheetmetal from other 49 to 50 chevy models are compatible with the fleetline and does it matter if it comes from a 2 door or not? I'm looking for a donor car hopefully not far from Tulsa,Ok.
depends on how much you need. if you will be cutting it where the fender chrome strip is then any 49-50 2 door would work. if you only need to replace the section behind the rear door then a 4 door would be the same as well.
My GM parts book states the rear fender is the same for the 1949 and 1950 Fleetline Deluxe and Fleetline Special 4 door only. No other model shares the same part numbers. Left fender is # 4581034, right is 4581033. Don't know why the Styleline Deluxe 4 door or the Styleline Special 4 door fenders don't fit, but they are different part numbers.
The area needing replaced is actually from the seam of the inner fender to the lip of the trunk and from the back edge of the gas filler door to the bottom edge of the fender. All damage is to inner fender sheet metal that houses the tail light up to about the gas filler door.
if you need a piece of the trunk lip Fleetline and Styleline will not interchnage. the panel below the trunk lid is different as well. a picture sure would clear things up for certain.
