Hey fellas, it's been a LONG time.

So I'm at that weird stage where nothing currently NEEDS to be done to my 53 merc so I'm doing all the cosmetic stuff I've been putting off, new carpet, headliner, door panels. All that jazz.
So I'm thinking real hard about pulling the dash and repainting it and I notice that the raised lettering around the heat control knobs is chipped off and damaged. I had been planning on just carefully taping the letters and painting around then but now I've got it in my head that I can use the aluminum leaf that sign painters use and just seal it in after I paint.
Has anyone else used this stuff before? Am I being dumb and missing an easier option?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. I have used a "paint pen" (silver, but available in a billion colours) to do a similar job. No masking required if you have a steady hand (a snort of schnapps before helps). You can buy them with very fine tips if needed.

That's a much better and way cheaper idea. Thanks!
