I wanted to wait to post pics until I cleaned it up, and got the ugly rollers off the back, and got the front clamped into a more ride height look, plus put my spindles and F100 brakes on, but.....I couldn't wait any more..

I'll be the first to admit that I cannot build/weld chassis', and I admire those that can. And with that in mind, I had another HAMBer build it for me.

"what fenders" aka Dave Macan, from Oberlin Ohio built it for me. I am happy as can be with the qaulity of work. Him and his partner/uncle are great people.
They're actually starting on another chassis for another HAMBer. But I'll let them do the talking about that.

I also want to Thank Rolf, Clark, and woody for answering alot of questions for me.

    Here's a quick rundown.

ASC rails, they step-boxed in that So-*** fashion
slight pinch for 31 Model A
Hand-built Model A style front crossmember, flattened and moved forward 2in for a 108 wheelbase
8in rear with a 40 front spring, bobbed rear rails
The rear is a parallel 4-bar type set-up using heavily modified 38 rear bones on the bottom and modern up top.
Plus the rear spring hangers are heavily machined/modified 38 units. Those are the ones normally attached to the axle tube..not anymore!

The front is 40 split bones, 4in dropped ibeam, c-notched

There's no steering box mount because I'm going cowl steering

I don't know, there's more, but my brain is numb right now.

Anyway, here's some terrible pics. I hope to move it outside this week to take better pics.

    Thanks for looking

Your frame looks great, all 32 chassis done well are like artwork. Yours is no exception.

Very nice. A great milestone to get a "roller". I do like the way you did the rear bones as well as the fronts.

    Thanks guys.

The idea was I wanted to mimic the Rollin Bones kinda look, with a Model A twist. Sorta, but not really, but kinda.....

I wanted it lower than a normal 32, but not nut dragging.

I knew I wanted it just low enough that the front bones would attach to the rails, not below them, and it was Dave's idea to build the 4bar rear deal using bones for the lowers.

    Thanks again

    :)

    Looks real nice.....
I also like the fact that the transmission crossmember unbolts. So many do not......so then it is a PIA when transmission time comes......

Sounds like " you have the PLAN..."

A very tidy looking chassis. Be sure to keep us posted on the rest of the build.

    Tim,

Congrats! I'm glad this is finally happening for you. Good luck with the rest of the build.

People don't realize how much work it takes to get to that point. Nice job.

You're right. And all I did was give input and drive 93 miles each way many, many times. Dave and Bob did all the work.

I have my bearings and seals coming for my F100 hubs. Everything for the brakes is sandblasted. I got new studs..My kingpins are done, so waiting on bearings etc, and I can get the front a roller.

I have my 72 ford truck steering box all cleaned up, so now I have to reverse it and it'll be close to ready for when the time comes.

I'm running 16x4.5 and 16x6 steelies and Firestones. He set the chassis up based on those tires, and said it should be at 3 degrees.

Thanks again. I'm very excited. Like a little kid at Christmas:eek: :D

  20. very nice work..i like how a wishbone was used as a lower bar of the rear 4-bar

That must be very exciting to now have a complete chassis. Enjoy.
