Trying to keep from painting myself into a corner with my brake lines, specifically with hiding the lines as they go along the frame toward the front wheels.

My car has fully boxed rails and a 1950 F1 steering box mounted on the inside of the driver's side frame rail. I'm concerned about how to get around the steering box in such a way that will allow me to remove the steering box if needed for maintenance. Also, I'd like to avoid running the lines along the bottom of the frame so that I can jack the car up from anywhere on the frame. Running along the driver's side rail will keep my lines shorter than running them across the firewall to the other side, plus I'd like to keep the lines mounted to the frame and not the body.

Next, I'm concerned about how close the lines running down the frame rails will be to the exhaust (I'm going to be running ram-horn style manifolds inside the frame). Any advice on how to route around the ram-horn manifolds?

How about drilling holes in the boxing plates and running your brake lines inside the rails?

I would always be sure you can remove the lines from the car when it's fully ***embled, if need be. Before making the line, look at the route from below and imagine the body and most components are on the car. If you need to replace that line, can you get it off without removing major components.

I wouldn't put the lines inside the frame "box" either. Same reason.

I think mounting the lines to the boxing plates is the best option. Tap right into the plate and use Adel clamps to hold the lines

If you are gonna be too close to the exhaust, you can build a small tin shield in the area to deflect the heat.

We are building hot rods, not mansions. It's OK if we see some plumbing.

Running my brake lines right now. Here are a few pics of how I am doing them along the frame. I'm using a vega cross steer and the vega box mounts to the frame in a way that I can mount the line running to the front between the box and the frame. Is there a spot with your box that u can do that?

Roll them under. I understand the concern, keep it simple and remember to keep the jack off the front rails. Your bones will keep your lines safe. *Pic. Fuel on p***enger, brake on driver side to a 'T' at the crossmember. 20150212_223719.jpg .
