So I have a 58 Brookwood Wagon now and I have a dilemma... I dont have it in the garage yet so I havent done any thinking on what I can do... SO.... Any slightly modified 58 Brookwoods around? I looked around but couldnt really find much... I didnt know if anyone on here had one or not... Trying to figure out what color/ colors they look good in, and anything real neat to do to it... Here it is...............
Hey man, Cograds on your new wagon. I read your other post about the 58s and I am glad that you were able to grab one. Here's a link on all 58 Chevy models: http://www.58classicchevy.com/
Well I have the 2 door also... But I dont plan on fixing the 2 door, it will find a home with someone else... Thanks JC marz, Ill check it out. Anyone on here have a 58 wagon?
Glad to see somebody picked up a couple of these. You might want to buy one of the sedans if just to strip it. The stainless on these is tough to come by. As for the wagon, I don't think it needs much, slammed, 5-spoke mags, clean up some badges and things, and go with it. Color is more a personal taste thing, but a white roof will reflect some heat off the car.
do a quick 10 second google/yahoo/whatever image search under 1958 chevy brookwood. you'll ge som ideas real quick... color wise i think pastel type era appropriate colors look good on those cars as do earth tones of browns, greens, grays... i like them in tri tone with lighter color lower panels and roof and medium/darker tone middle section(you'll see plenty tri-tone in your image search). because i think they have some of the best pastel type colors i'd dip in my other love and look at 50s vw bus colors..... sealing wax red and chestnut brown?......... sand green and palm green?..... agave green like i'm planning on doing my 62 unibody in mixed with a nice tan/beige(the new subaru's have a color that would work well for this)? beyond that 5 spokes of some type i'd probably choose different ones based on color choices. or a set of chrome reverse wrapped in whitewalls..... something cool interior like som og patterned inserts or since it's a wagon plaid inserts(i have a weird thing for plaid interiors).... oh mild drop and a sbc and you've got a cool cruiser you don't see every day. as has been said don't let them crush the others without getting every walkaway piece off you can beforehand. trim, i know most of the bumper platers have the bumpers on their wanted cores list most times. any of the wagon only items. 1 year production means harder to find. you could probably flip the quick grabs and get a chunk to put towards getting this one off the ground. play your cards right and you could probably do a quick 4 month build on it and flip it at goodguys charlotte to help pay the kids med bills...
You didnt see my update on my son... NO SURGERY... Makes me very very happy... Next year they will fix with a cathiter... So Im thinking family hot rod build... And I hear those grilles are rare??? I have 4 of them sitting around I cant sell... Ive had for a long time...
COOL deal. thats great news... so yeah familia hot rod..... most of that stuff you're gonna need to go to sites like here, chevy boards, ebay, etc. ads on outlying c'list like charlotte/asheville/g'boro wouldn't hurt either. i can tell you from much experience stuff doen't sell like it use to 5-10 years ago. you gotta work it nowadays.
I have 4 spots at fall charlotte... I usually save alot of stuff al year... go down there and dump it to someone that can use it...
