I am going to convert to a cross steer and would like to purchase a different steering arm that fits the spindle. Does anyone have any idea what manufacturer these spindles are? I can't seem to find any like them on my he internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Econoline. Pretty sure nobody makes a new arm for that. Those haven't been used by the "hot rod industry" for decades. Not sure, but maybe the kingpin OD is the same and you can adapt some regular 37-48 Ford spindles to that axle, then get a wider range of arms available.

Also, is that a crack in the chrome on the backside of the axle in the second pic? Is it any more than the chrome?

Thank you for the info! You nailed it! It doesn't appear that anyone makes them as you said. If we change spindles then we would need all new backing plates as well. We don't want to have to go that far. The plan is to now TIG weld on a second taper and send it out to have rechromed.

You have a good eye. It does appear to be a crack in the picture but it's just the way the dirt dried on. It wiped right off. Thanks

I concur with being Econoline. Had a set of those on an A axle on a past modified type roadster. Great brakes for a light car.

My understanding is the drums are no longer available, I have a spare if you need one (cheap, basically cover the shipping).

Or use a tie rod end with a hole in it.
