Projects Reproduction 392 Hemi block

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Maroon Goon, Oct 5, 2016.

  1. I'm probably shooting myself in the foot here because I want to put an early Hemi in my FED. Bear Block Motors is reproducing 392 Hemi blocks. I'm not an agent for them and have no experience with their products. Just p***ing on some info I found while searching for early hemi parts. They already sell Ford side oiler blocks and heads so maybe I'm posting old information. They are in Chatsworth CA and sold the first batch and have one block left at $4200 plus shipping. Next batch is expected in late November. I contacted Doug at info@bearblockmotors.com and their website is http://bearblockmotors.com/ . Sorry the links didn't work.
    Regards,
    Roy

from the looks they are a real nice piece---- however I did hear of one block having an issue with oil in the water jacket, Could be a machineing or casting issue for just that one block, so make sure they pressure test it before you buy

Decent original blocks can be found for $600- $800, decent heads for half that and a nice crank for $800. With mild machining you will be ahead and have the real Mcoy. Unless it will compe***ive, I think it is better to go with a used seasoned block. Spend the money on upgrades and machining. My two cents.

There are still some oem blocks 'out-there'. No, not cheap but certainly not $4200.
All depends on the needs and the funds. If you are running the FED hard then the extra cost may not be a bad thing.

I can still find OEM 392's. The last one that I sourced for a customer, stock bore, stock deck, was $600.

I also recently scored two stock bore, uncut crank, 354's, for $1400.
