Hey guys, I'm going the flat white with red wheels/accents route on my Buick, what are some white primer/sealers available?

Sure you want primer? If you're gonna park your car in the sun much, I'd strongly suggest flattened white paint.

If you're planning on re-spraying the car fairly soon, there's a white version of DP90. Just change the "90" part to a different number... can't remember which it is. But DP fades the fastest of any primer I've seen.

PPG's K36 is an off-white gray. It's a surfacer that sands nice, and I like the way it shoots. It's what is on my car around the frenched lights in this pic:

I plan to eventually paint it white, but want the same effect until I have the time to do the bodywork.

I wonder, if white primer faded, would anyone notice?

  4. yea, what Slide said.
Preferably K 38 (the replacement for 36). Get it covered in that, then a coat of DPLF white(it's either DPLF 48 or 50, I forget, and I don't wanna walk to the back of the shop to find out) FWIW, white epoxy don't cover worth a damn, so light gray primer all over first will help take less epoxy to get the desired result.

i think a bigger issue than fading, is with white primer, if you have dirty hands and even LOOK at your car, it will leave greazy fingerprints!

My bud used Dupont white with a flattener. It doesn't collect smudge as bad and it is sealed. I used ppg and had the paint store make it flat (purple) it is nice as hell. I would use paint instead of primer. At least you know it is sealed when you are done. You think body work is a ***** wait till next time.

Dupont "Corlar" is a 2 part epoxy primer. Comes in light grey, which in reality is closer to white than grey. I used to use it for pastel color primer (with toner added). Epoxy is pretty water resistant, has a bit of gloss, which makes it easier to clean than other primers.

Spiezhecker makes an awsome primer any color you want. It is activated with a catalyst , preventing it from fading or absorbing moister it is called Spectro surfacer. Look at Nick32vic's car.
