I think you're right, I don't find any "beauty" in a 392. Not like a flathead, a nailhead, a Caddy or Olds. The 392 is about as subtle as a sledgehammer across your teeth. It's big and imposing. It looks like it runs. But therein lies the allure. Not every car is supposed to win beauty pageants, some are meant to win street fights, and that's what the 392 does. It's brute force over finesse.

    Love that "as cast" style.

Given the vertical castings on the blower and the scoops. Add in the vertical cast breathers and then put on a swoopy exhaust of some sort these always struck me in a similar visual way as an antique C***avant cathedral organ.

Should make some sweet noise too.

love it; want it. years ago magneto were pain on the street, had to manually retard when start each time. Do you have modern way or is it just a cover over other ignition?

Real Deal Vertex Mag when I had it. I love the new wires...................Ryan, can you tell me how the internals looked when he pulled it apart? I always had lean out problems with the rochesters on it.

  19. I'm still trying to figure out how that's gonna be enough carb for a blown 392 with a "radical" cam. Keith must have some tricks up his sleeve for getting BIG flow out of a Stromberg 97...

If they are the new big 97's then it's over 1000cfm, it's going to be low boost looking at the pulley sizes. I'm also curious how it's going to perform.

  25. If they're BIG 97's then they'll flow 1000cfm @ 3in/Hg. That's roughly equivalent to 700cfm @ 1.5in/Hg, which is a little bit small for that many cubes + boost. It sure looks mean, but I've always been a fan of "More's Law"...

  29. Those are some cool pics,
Some look like they are macro pics of a detailed 1/6 scale.
