I didn't think you guys could top last month's issue. Boy was I WRONG. Wow.

Nice illustration Jeff. Hmm, I wonder what two cars inspired that one? hahaha. :)

Great to see all the positive words. I have always felt that the work I do, whether it was at R&C, Goodguys or The Rodder's Journal- all of it would entertain the same people that find the main source of daily entertainment in the HAMB (just like I have since before I had ONE WORD published in a rod mag).

But the main thing I want people to remember is that all of those magazines are a TEAM effort and right now I feel I am on a great team where everyone has the same goal and interest. I like to know that even if none of us were working at this magazine our interests would not change 1-percent. I have always enjoyed reading people that were a part of the story rather than those that were just posing or pretending they were into it. Those are the ones that people mentioned who call roadsters cabriolets and get the model years wrong TIME AND TIME again.

We really hoped people were noticing that the magazine has turned a major corner- and through the e-mails and letters we have recieved it shows that people have indeed noticed. I'm always a lot less comfortable adding in to a positive post than I am jabbing fun at myself because I know it can easily be read as pompous chest pounding, but a more humble person (I know, ha ha) you will never find. I still don't consider myself a "professional", just a kid that LOVES hot rods, kustoms and magazines and for today I'm lucky enough to make a living (well, my wife makes a "living" and lets me play) being a part of all of it.

I let my R & C lapse several years ago. I usually thumb through it on the news stand. Until recently I haven't found much to make me buy it but this June issue rocks! I'm glad to see R&C moving in the direction I like. I was dedicated to Rod Action in the 70's and the current R&C reminds me quite a bit of that. Way to go Rod and Custom! I don't really care for the magazines with the traditional rods and the girlie pictures. I'm too old or something for that. That's why I've always tended toward Rod and Custom. It is THE brand name after all.

Terrific issue. I've read it cover to cover several times already (I got help with some of the big words). Just renewed my subscription for another 2 years, so no freakin' backsliding!

Got my issue yesterday. I've been reading R&C since it was "Rods and Customs", and I sincerely say that this is one of the best issues in many, many years. Jim and Kevin, you're doing it right, please keep it up. Thanks!

I have been loving each recent issue and I generally buy every issue from the newstand.

I used to have a subscription a few years ago, but I let it lapse because I would get the latest issue weeks after I saw it in stores. I couldn't take it. I would also miss issues and have to call to have them re-sent.

It sounds like several people here are still waiting for their issues to arrive, so my question is, has the poor subscription service been addressed? It sounds like it is still a problem.

I would love to get a subscription again, have it delivered right to my house, AND save some money off the retail cover price. Please tell me the subscription service is better now.

I usually don't post "great job" posts, but I gotta admit, R & C is really getting great! This issue really brought it up to a new level (or "down" to a new level) While I appreciate the high dollar cars, I can appreciate the inclusion of home builts, low bucks, and unfinished cars, to try to bring in "new blood". Great job, R & C guys!
I do agree with kustombuilder, the work on the chopped shoebox is kinda shoddy. While I applaud seeing things done low buck, and backyard tech, I think the way they chopped that box was just wrong!
First, the hardtop conversion, by welding the posts to the roof, you can't open the door without opening the windows. Not proactical, doesn't look very good either!
Again, you should be trying to give guys good ideas to do their metalworking a little better than sheet metal screwing a flat panel to a curved roof,, and just muscling it into some sort of shape. You don't need a power hammer and English wheel to make a nice curved panel.

Thanks I always loved the monthly vintage tin pages in the back of the magazine. R&C has always been my favorite ever since the first one I picked up n 58?

I finally figured out that I'm not the only person in this world. Sometimes the magazine won't fit all my wants in every issue but it sure has been the closest to me for almost 50 years. They have one hell of a batting average!

The magazines have a resposibilty to print valid information. A month or two back, Streetrodder featured a car with copper gas lines. They emphasized that the copper lines were polished, as if that were a good idea. Now there will be people claiming that copper gas lines are a good idea because the magazine endorsed this car. Once a magazine publishes erroneous information, it is very difficult to correct.

  20. My mailman must be on spring break I got mine on time this issue. I think for now on any time a HAMBer is in one of the pictures or their car is you need to raise your hand or something.;)

  21. :D When you subscribe you will always be one step ahead of the news stands. Also, you have got to figure out if your postman is a car guy or not. :D Gary 4T950 Chevy Guy
