I know it's not everybody's flavor, but I just sent in my registration for 2017.
Been to Memphis, Columbus, St. Paul, but never made Louisville.
Wondering if any one would care to suggest a hotel.
Can't figure out what the headquarters hotel is either.
Any help / suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'll be there working. We always stay at the Crowne Plaza which is right across the street

The last couple of years the hotels really started raising prices. Don't stay across the street. Look out to the west of fairgrounds. Red Roofs are the best value, Check the one by Hurstbourne exit.

You'll get a map and lodging info with your entry number. There is no headquarters hotel for the Nationals. Registration is a short distance No/West of the Exposition Center at the Papa Johns Cardinal stadium. Best to Google map the area to better understand the location and layout.

We have been going for the last 8 years or so. We stay at the Crown Plaza across from the fair grounds. It's a little expensive but it's a nice place. They have security in the parking lot if that means anything.

Thanks for the suggestion Don (and others). Their site says they're full. Found a hotel says N.E. Louisville, would I be close to the fairgrounds?
    You guys are quick typers.
I've googled the area, but can't seem to locate the fairgrounds.
    I'll try calling direct.
    Thanks.

We used to stay at the Days Inn, next to the Red Roof Inn at Hurstbourne, but got tired of the police showing up at both hotels, and then waking up to construction/work trucks blocking in the cars, along with the damm sprinklers going off. Had better luck closer to the fairgrounds, but a car was stolen this year from the one (under construction) we were staying at, so none are problem free. Staying close to the fairgrounds is expensive, but does save having to put up with the crazy Louisville traffic! :)

Anything on Phillips lane or Crittendon by fairgrounds is going to have rates jacked up, BUT thats where the action is at night. And all in walking distance Last year i stayed about 20 min out, rates were about 1/2.

3X, I stayed at Holiday Inn south, military base to east and major car plant to the south, all freeway to fairgrounds, lots of rodders stay there, had security for lot, no problems back then, last time I went was 2008 or so, so maybe a fresher reference would be good. you will enjoy show, everyone should attend at least once, just beware, it's HOT in August in Kentucky, those huge A/C buildings are a savior, keep your map and tram schedule with you, ride the trams, way too much walking in heat of day. ENJOY !

I had a booth at the nats for 17 years then semi retired and took a few years off. Last year some friends and I went back and stayed at the Residence Inn down the block west of the fairgrounds. Not only do they have a really good breakfast buffet but they have an evening happy hour with beer, wine and some form of food. As for the Nats as a show I probably won't go back as a spectator, I'm one of those 48 and older bigots or at least older than 62.

The fairgrounds are just north of the airport. Google motels in Louisville and look along 264heading east and the Hurstbourne area, 15 minutes to the fairgrounds in the morning.
Don't be afraid to search in Indiana just over the river either in Jeffersonville or Clarksville, bridge work is complete, smooth sailing.

    My sentiments also.
I know it's a big show, but now it's "just a car show" with a bunch of late model stock types taking over the landscape.

    You're all very helpful, thanks.
As far as the '48 and older goes, I have to say I think along the same lines. This will be the first year that I don't have a '48 and older car running and driving, so will be attending in an Anglia, really a Ford Popular, so kinda thankful for the opening up for "new cars" for the first time in my life.
I'll be back in shape for 2018.

  20. I stayed south of Louisville this year in Sheperdsville-about 15 miles from the fairgrounds as I recall- easy drive morning and afternoon- big go cart track nearby- rooms were very reasonable

About 10 miles north is Jeffersonville IL. Take Rt. 65 north and just over the JFK Bridge. Several motels in the immediate area.

I haven't been to the nats since the day they announced that they were going to keep them in Louisville every year. So, sorry but I don't have any hotel recommendations.

HOWEVER; if you eat pizza you've gotta try Impellizzeri's while you've there.

Don't confuse him. Jeffersonville is in Indiana, not Illinois.
