We went out to a place south of my parents house to look at some stuff that is going to be sold for scrap metal . I heard there might be a flat head Ford motor out there and maybe some other stuff . This is what we found. I'm not sure on the year of the dump truck but the motor is a flat head Ford 8ba 24 bolt.I think the cab could be used as a good hot rod project. What year do ya think it is?

'48-'52 Ford Truck - not sure on which one...someone who knows them better can tell the exact year by the grille

    Springer,

That is a '51 or '52 Ford. I'm not sure how to tell the difference between the two years but it is one or the other for sure.

We found a few other things the only one of real interest was a Chevy straight six out of a crane that runs. The good news is the flat head will turn over.

the V8 emblem in the grill makes it a 51. 52's had FORD there.

I'd say, even if you can't get the whole truck out of there, save the cab/doors, hood, grille, and engine. The front fenders on this one look toast but the good stuff needs to be saved.

If there's anyhting good on the Jeep I'd grab it too, the forward control models are fairly rare.

the cab hood and grille on the ford are the same as used on pickups the fenders are different wheel opening size on the bigger trucks but they will also fit a pickup.I have a friend who used the bigger fender by closing up the wheel opening for the smaller tires on pickupthat jeep could also be built by ford as they built jeep under contract to willys

I believe the circle on the hood spears will say what model it is (F-3 or 4 is my guess). A lot of people want the big truck fenders, even with the "usual" rot. Are the running boards any good? Hell, tow the whole thing home!

I'd get the truck, I know a guy that gets those left and right from old farms in Virginia. He just picked up 11 big old trucks. He paid $500 for all 11. I picked up a '49 Ford F-6 Dump Truck from an old farm (truck below) and i just bought a 1949 1.5 ton truck. I'll have pics of it this weekend when it's delivered to me. I love the big trucks, i think i'm going to trade my dump truck for another big ford truck i have a plan for, i don't need the dump bed and a guy wants it, so i'll trade.

There's quite a following for those old cab over Jeeps. If there's anything worth salvaging, save it. I'm sure that there's a couple of Jeep only websites with forums on them to help you move it.

It's called a Forward Control, and they made them in the late 50's. If the windshield is not broken, do what you can to save it. They do not reproduce them and they fetch around $400.00.

My buddy has one in a wrecking yard with a Chevy straight six conversion...all of the windows are long gone. There's a few websites, run a google search.

Yeah, throw that FC on ebay, or on some of the FC sites. Offer it up to trade for hot rod parts, maybe somebody has a rusty old 32 behind the barn they want to trade :)

Thanks for the info guys. I'm still waiting on the current owner to give me a price for everything. He was just going to scrap it so I'm hoping he will not want to much.
If anyone on here knows anyone interested in the FC Jeep stuff let me know and maybe I will pick that up to.
