Montana1 - The Edelbrock carbs didn't hit the market till the 1980's. Peeling the red stickers off like I did doesn't hide anything either! Good ''out of the box'' carbs. Bought mine before I found the HAMB and became aligned with getting things right. One of the things that's going to change when the blower happens. Boost referenced sidemounted double pumpers. Tasty.

 

Yes, will LOOK and RUN better with holley DPs, ask me how I know.

Reading lately, I think in the y block story with the y block Argentine link, they say the y block unique sound is from the firing order which is different than most.

 

I was calm. A little "tongue in cheek" well ok, a whole lot tongue in cheek, but calm.
Any fifties era carb, well, personally, I'd probably actually run two of them, but early small-neck afb's, pair of wcfbs, early rochesters. I kinda like wcfb's and because they were used on Corvettes, they have better parts support than most. Early rochesters are cheap as dirt, but parts support is harder, I bought one at Monroe for $10.
But man, after all that work to make it look "period", that edelbrock afb sticks out like a wart. If he at LEAST would pop the ****** edelbrock badge off the front, and get rid of the black powder coat, that would be a start, but you are still working with a copy of a sixties era E series AFB.

 

You could also use 3 Rochester 2bbls! Decent parts support for those too.

Back when the new gen. hemis were new I was at the CHRR in Bakersfield.
This was when Don Garlits was helping Chrysler hawk their new crate motors and he was there with a blown one in some odd FED.
I'm standing there trying to wrap my arms around it because not only had I never seen the new hemi; I had never seen a blown one.
Garlits says "whacha think", I thought I was just being funny and I say "some people just can't leave **** alone".
He wasn't too impressed with that response apparently, because he just turned around and started talking to one of his lackeys.

WOW! I have never seen that set up on a hot rod. Very interesting, I expect it works pretty well on the truck.

 

I had one of the Gray Marin set ups for the Y block.

I love the mail box on the 4 port.

 

Wrong pic, I was looking at the 4-71 blown small block with the dark metallic green and finned aluminum. That really blows my skirt up!
Not a criticism, but an interesting point about the pic with the mailbox scoop, it's newer than most probably realize, I think the NHRA nationals contestant decal on the side of the scoop in that photo dates from the seventies. Cool pic, interesting.
