My current project in a 31 A pickup that was hacked up badly in a past life and is now roofless. A previous owner had welded the doors shut, which kept the body reasonably strong, but I have since taken the doors off with the intention of making them functional. I was just wondering if anybody out there has built a similar project, and what they did to add strength the the rear panel of the cab. I have some ideas, but I thought it might help to see what others have done. Also I was wondering if there is a term for these type of things, like a truck equivalent to a " coupster" ? I tried searching that term but all I got what references to the Griswalds station wagon, and pictures of "bobber trucks". Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Nice project, I think NealinCa built the best out of a '32 cab. I'll be back with the link when I find it. Bob
My only advice is that closed cars turned roadsters need special attention around the windshield posts to keep them from looking retarded. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Took forever to find the link to Neil's build, one of the best on the HAMB. Bob http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/32-rpu-build-thread-the-10-year-plan.642590/
Am doing the same with the remains of a 48-52 Ford F-1. The biggest challenge has been to strengthen the B-piller so it doesn't move around and open up the door gaps. My recommendation is to splice in at least 6" of metal between the B-pillar and the back panel to make the B-pillar more stable, would also give you needed room inside the cab. (Two birds with one stone).
I think I get what you're saying, do you have any pictures? Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
