Hmmmm........ maybe after I get the lime green candy pearl and plum crazy paint job on it. My wife has a 40 year sentimental attachment to that particular truck or I never would've tackled it, it was really far gone.

I really don't see how, they're allowing corvettes ( musclecar) Fiat Topolinos ( import) clones of drag racers, I've even seen a slingshot rail and an army halftrack for crying out loud!

Check out the rules. The moderators enforce them. Your thread must have strayed too far from what's allowed here.

Its a traditional hot rod and customs site. I like lots of different vehicles and there are a numerous sites to check out my interest. I like that the h.a.m.b. is diligent to keep it focused.

Ok, after a half hours search I found an alert that they deleted my post. I'm on the H.A.M.B. app., I had to go to Safari and google this forum to find it. The moderators didn't like my post. Other people liked it so I guess the mods don't like them either.

Lots of us like lots of things that are not appropriate for this forum. That does NOT make them appropriate for this forum.

I wouldn't take it personal. It isn't because the moderators don't like you or certain people in general.

Here is part of my post that I left on one of your other deleted posts that you questioned why it was deleted.........

    My Sub quote.....
"Traditional ERA Hot Rods and Custom Cars from the 30's through the early 60's.
Deleted posts are a editorial decision and if you take it personal, than maybe the HAMB isn't for you.

As far as your comment " don't let me see a 55 Chevy with a LS motor in it"....
If you see a post, report it and a moderator will take care of it.

If you take things personal because you don't like the rules and feel you want to lip / bust balls about it and get a attitude, deleting all together will usually follow.

Stick around and check out all of the HAMB and see what it is all about.

    Welcome....,,,
Maybe you'll like it - maybe not... up to you.

    Thanks,

Hey, I pushed the envelop once, the post was pulled off the main page, and moved to a special forum.
No harm no foul, I understood.

You will find your sweet spot here in time, just hold on and enjoy the ride.
I follow a fair number of threads and don't recall enough of them dissapearing to consider the mods to be heavy handed (my words).
You know there's a saying in drag racing:
"If you don't redlight once in a while your not trying hard enough".

  16. Exactly. You have to spend some time and actually read a lot of threads here to understand how all of these guys relate, communicate and such. Only once you understand all of this can you push their buttons safely to get them riled up without getting threads deleted, or get E-bludgeoned too badly.

    Watch, these are just examples:

Safe, guaranteed to get a rise out:

I really dig '32 Fords, but I'm pretty sure their values are dropping right now.

Safe, guaranteed to get a rise out:

I think 4 doors cars are just as cool as 2 door cars.

Safe, guaranteed to get a rise out:

I think radials look great on fender-less Roadsters.

Not safe, thread will get deleted:

Hey, what &&@** deleted my post. Panzy, pinko.

Not safe: thread will get deleted:

I just junked the 21 stud flathead that was in the deuce coupe I bought from someone here on the Hamb. I want to install a new Viper motor and 8 speed flipper controlled automatic transmission, any advice?

    It's all in the subtlety.

I stuck around, I love this forum. Period. My point is that it seems to be selectively hypocritical, a duece coupe with a 350 chev motor is acceptable even though the 350 didn't exist in the timeframe that's being emulated here, on the other hand a deuce with a 69 OHC Mercedes v-8 would probably get booted. I've been outside the box since the day I was born, ( no pun intended), had I been born 50 years sooner the traditionalists would probably be copying me, I coulda been the guy that stuck a cad/lasalle trans onto a flathead ford, who knows ? People here are building cars with aftermarket parts that are reproductions of cars built before the aftermarket existed. Am I making any sense to anyone???

    Bruce,
I'm not saying you're wrong, but this isn't a public democratic forum. When it comes to this stuff everybody has an opinion, but the one opinion that counts is the guy who owns the forum. Hypocrisy? Perhaps, considering all the T5 transmission and airbag threads, etc., but I think it's the look and flavor that count most. If your car doesn't look the part, then maybe there's a forum on the net more suited to your car's taste. As for myself, I like a wide variety of automotive types, so I visit a wide variety of automotive sites.....

Yep, lots of people liked the hotrod truck , ( except the wheels & mud flaps ) , but I know it would get booted if you could see under the skin !

Still reading? Then you must be cut out for this, right? We recommend you read some more. Check out all the forums, develop an understanding for how things work around here, learn the "do's"; and "dont's"; The key to a happy HAMB newbie is to understand the joint BEFORE you begin posting.

So many people join here without reading the rules, while all or them are important, the one above will go along way in helping newbies.

This place can be as hard or as easy as you make it. Why a 350? Because most of them are "dressed" right and can't be told from a 283 or 327. You'll find the occasional BBC here n there too. Slingshot dragsters? To me that's a front engine dragster (AKA FED). Nothing that's ever gone down a drag strip has as much history and tradition as a FED, and they were still "En Vogue" through 1969. Like obscenity vs porn, you know it when you see it. Contrary to some hard-ass impatient types it's not all about black Deuce hiboys or chopped 49-51 Mercs. Vettes? You bet yer ass a few of those get in here, especially the drag racers from "the day" and even road race varieties from the heydays of track racing. You'll find 7 figure American classics in restored condition now and then (you're welcome folks) and it's because they provide inspiration or are just simply the coolest of their day. So you see, as hard or as easy as you wish. An open mind doesn't mean a total rule breaker. I'm not the boss, the owner, not on a board of directors, not a moderator. If I were I'd push for a later year "cut off" because "we" kept this shit up for longer than the board allows, yet at the same time the danger is board full of Camaros, Mustangs, Road Runners and their ilk. Not the focus here and there's hundreds of sites dedicated to them. It works. Enjoy what's here, participate if you can, best of all take in as much of this as you can because without it very few would embrace this shit. I find it well worth embracing, maybe you will too.

Small block Chevy has been around since 1955. Like it or not, it is a traditional engine.
