Technical Model A Ford Windshield Frame Hinge?

Has anyone used a piano hinge on the top of a Model A closed car windshield frame instead of the one piece OEM hinge?

I think it would tend to leak or whistle.

 

The correct hinge is like $20 repro in aluminum isn't it?

I built the whole windshield frame for my " A " hotrod and I used a stainless piano hinge like you pictured, it worked just fine and it was tucked up far enough under the visor so there weren't any leaks or whistles.

What did you make your frame out of?

 

16 ga. 308 stainless hammer formed around square steel bar stock, took awhile to sand and polish.
