Guess you missed the FRONT wheels have been MOVED as in altered. Nowhere does it mention JUST the rear wheels.

Nothing you have posted...it looks like they were removed. A fiat topolino altered. The guy who posted them has it figured out now, and posted a couple bitchin AWB cars instead. We're all good now.

It's funny that you mentioned Beswick, because I'm 99% sure that's his ex-factory A/FX 65 Comet on the back of that C600 hauler in the background.:)

  14. the big red car is one of my favorites from the era. there were two set ups for the rear end on that car. that way they could move the wheels depending on the class they wanted to run that day. not all of the pics posted show the late season modification. the Glenview Plymouth pics were taken at my home town track union grove wi.

  16. too bad the guys that restored it don't know the first thing on how to run it. another one that will never do anything other than get a sun tan at car shows.

  18. the factory photos show some cool detail if you study them. the cars are using sedan doors on hard top bodies. the lead normally used in the door jamb and were the roof meets the body is missing due to the acid dipping. the rear package tray is off a sedan. there is close up photo out there from this group showing the miss match of the package tray.

  27. more of my favorites today. I have a lot of seat time in the jakes speed/ candies and hughes car. the first time I drove it the car still had the original leaf springs wheelie bars. the car stood straight up on the hit. when it came down the axle got bent and shock was torn from its mount. the motor mounts were damaged also. the cool thing is the car still went in the tens on a soft pass. that's the only car other than the tension car that had the trunk sectioned. look close at the pics 10 inches has been removed. there is little over hang.

Hey, the Chevies can wait. I like those Fords too! Great thread!
Picked up a nice set of Hot rod Magazine yearbooks awhile back from Brigrat on here, and Yearbook #6 has a couple of cool articles on AWB funny cars that I had remembered reading years ago. From one of the articles, here's something to tie into your post - this cutaway drawing of an early Tasca Ford AWB funny car done by illustrator William A. Moore:

    tasca ford cutaway2.jpg
According to the article the car was built by Holman and Moody. Neat to see some of the inner workings and construction details. Always liked Mr. Moore's renderings.
Did I mention, this is a great thread...?!!

Did the car make any runs at the Meltdown? Would sure be cool to see it in action. Any more info or history on the car would be great too. Thanks for posting!
