Hot Rods 51 plymouth business coupe engine swap

  1. im new here and im sure you guys have talked about this before but will a 1985 318 fit in my 51 plymouth business coupe without changing the manual steering box? And will A body headers fit?

    The 318 will fit if you offset it to the right a couple of inches. This swap has been discussed several times, if you do a search you should come up with some good answers to all your questions.

    The A body headers definitely won't fit with the stock steering. Use early 2000's Dodge Dakota manifolds, they're cheaper than headers and flow almost as good and more important they'll fit as long as you offset the engine over to the p*** side.

    The LA engine with A body driver side exhaust manifold clears the steering column.
    ...haven't heard of any headers fitting out of the box.....
    A lot of these swaps are on this forum as well as www.p15-d24.com (search for members smokeybear and fester60)
