Looking for some ideas or examples to dress up my steel 16" dually wheels. Mainly center caps and/or lugnut covers. Any ideas? Yes I could run those cheesy chrome simulators......but I don't care for them much. Keeping my eye out for some nice used aluminum wheels too..
I picked up a set of these, but because of the tandem rears, I would need 2 extra rears. I'll end up with Moon covers on the rears and just the fronts of the alloy set. I have made a foundry pattern for old time hub caps for the front, don't know how they'll look with the modern wheels. These ideas probably don't fit with your vision. LOL
For some reason this forum will only let me post one picture per post. Little roundish thing at the bottom is my hub cap pattern. (not my toe, the other roundish thing)
Barry, do you want to sell those rear caps? I have one and been looking for another for ages. I was wanting to use that type on the rear, but matching ones for the front has me kinda stumped
I was holding on to them for my build. Kinda rare piece. I had never seen any before I picked these up.
So here's what I came up with........I used the early truck axle caps on the rear, and used 30-31 Model A caps on the front. Had to fab adapters for both.
If those are 16" wheels, you might be able to run a trim ring like the ribbed ones. Just an idea. I think you can get some chrome or stainless lug nut caps as well. I don't like the cheesy ones, but there are some that are plain ones that might look nicer than a stock nut. I plan to pin stripe the wheels on the Diamond T, I have seen it on bigger trucks of that era with steels wheels and it fits the plan for that truck for me. It has the stock wheels on it that are a little different styling that lends itself to striping.
