If you or your friends attended The Rockabilly Rave in Camber Sands, Sus*** England just recently you need to read this. It's serious. Two people have died already. "RAVE ILLNESS -REPOSTED FROM HAYLEY/SUZY Q - PLEASE READ Body: RAVE ILLNESS -REPOSTED FROM HAYLEY - PLEASE READ Body: (THIS IS TRUE, I HAVE RUNG THE NUMBER MYSELF , SUZY Q x) Please read the below email, which was just sent to me by one of my chaletmates from the Rave: Hi All Just to let you know what's been happening about the bad illness we've all had since the Rave, so please tell as many people who you know of that were there including the foreigners. I think you all know 2 people have died from the symptons we've all had but we only know the name of one, Rick Porter from Bristol and a few others have Pneumonia including Kav Kavanagh. Most of us are still not well, many quite ill and off work, it seems to have affected just about everybody. I finally went to doctors yesterday he put me on antibiotics called Erythroped which are the correct ones for Legionaires so if you're still ill go to doctors ask for these. He sent me for a blood and urine test and also reported to the Public Health dept. A lady from Public Health rang me yesterday to take a statement and she has reported all this to Sus*** Health as the Pontins site is in their area and they have to take charge of the investigation. She agrees that this isn't a virus and they have now spoken to Jerry as need to get all our names and addresses. She said letters will be sent to us asking us to go for a blood and urine test as even if you're feeling better it will still show in the tests. A friend of a friend has just been diagnosed with Legionaires. So best to get tested and please call Sus*** Health on 01273 403591(local) urgently to report that you've been ill with the same symptons. " International - Sus*** Health on +44(0)1273 403591 More info. here: http://www.rockabillyrave.co.uk/ http://groups.myspace.com/LeagueExRabmyspacecom Please p*** this information onto anyone who you might think are affected. Koops.....
Holy ****! I seem to have made it out of there scott free. haven't heard of any of the Austin crew getting Ill. I wonder if it was the water at the main camp since we were housed in the trailers off site? Take care of yourself.
Legionaires is not something to mess with. It is spread by the inhalation of water mists that are contaminated with the bacteria. So if you where by the source and it was airborne (misters, cooling towers), it is possible you where infected.
A buddy of mines aunt died from Legionaires. She started feeling poorly on day one, slight flu like symptoms and by day five she was dead and she spread it to several people somehow. Nobody else died but they never figured out how she got it. The day before she got sick she was out and about shopping and having a good time. Scary stuff.
From Jerry chatabox: We have spoken to the Consultant for communicable diseases in Sus***. He has the power to look at blood test results from anywhere in the country. He confirmed this morning that there have been NO cases of Legionaires disease from anyone who went to the Rave. He said that there is an increase in flu reported in Sus*** at the moment, mainly in schools. No one has died of Legionaires disease. Kav is not in hospital and never has been. I have not been asked for everyones names who attended the Rave. We will be posting these facts on our website very soon !! Cheers! Jerry Chatabox
Pete's about summed it up. There's no panic, just a load of old aged 'Billies that can't take the pace anymore Sorry for any alarm caused but the alert was genuine. Koops..... P.S. Jerry Chatabox will be posting the latest news on his site shortly. http://www.rockabillyrave.co.uk/
I came back from the Rave with a real bad dose of flu and so did at least 15 of my friends, personally i put it down to a lot of peaple packed into a room with other people who have flu and having it go through the air-con units.I cannot lay any blame on either pontins or organisers for something they cannot control otherwise we would have been given a packet of Beachams powders on arrival and a packet of tissues.Even if it was legionella i still could not really blame pontins.A good weekend was had and a bad week flat on my back followed .......my bad. However a lot of the people who go to these things are a lot older now and resistance is certainly less than it was in your 20's ,couple this with the fact of a lot of alcohol was being consumed(lower immune system)and staying up for all hours of the day and night you then have the perfect recipe for disaster. All that being said if we worry too much we might as well stay home with a hot cup of cocao and watch the telly...........................Marq
Seems like it an "ALL CLEAR" and a stack of rumours. Jerry Chatabox has posted the latest news on his site. http://www.rockabillyrave.co.uk/ Koops.....
