The cars in the first post are not part of CW Moss but rather that is Chris Unger's business, he rents that part of the building. Also the building was not originally a Ford dealership, it was Chevrolet. The Ford dealer was across the street where California Custom Roadsters used to be.

    Thanks Don,
That gets the story straight re: the building.
I stopped in several months ago on a Sunday and Chris's pal was just closing up the showroom. I saw Butch' s old 29 RPU. And his wife's 48 white ragtop for sale in there. The guy said Chris was renting that part out. I'm glad that this place is still there :).

  4. Thanks for the excellent pictures. I stop there yearly on the return from the Model A pancake breakfast. Both are excellent.

Quite a few years ago I had sold off several cars and was working on building up my '31 Ford tudor. I had been to C.W. Moss many times but always with a very limited budget. THIS time I went with a shopping list and the cash to fill it. What a blast. I got everything I needed from Moss, then went to Reid's to get the hot rod stuff. Talk about a kid in a candy store! Great place, great people. Glad to hear it's getting a new lease on life.

  9. I just went today and they closed off the access to the used parts :(, they had a small case of used stuff but that's it. They took over the blacktop place next door and the area with the cars on the end (not Reid's) is leaving also. It seems as old town Orange is going to the hipsters and students....more Starbucks, more gastropubs, more new......BOOOO!.

Interesting, I popped in there today too. I picked up a pair of headlights from Reids and then popped in to CW Moss to check out their progress. They're redoing the store, so give them a chance to get it set up. They told me their going to move all the old stuff out in front on tables (used to be in back).

The college is expanding again, so yeah, there will be more of all that.

That's how it looks outside of the garage, too bad I don't have any large shop space aka a cool Old Ford Dealership like someone else I know ;).

Glen's car is almost ready to roll outta here :).
That's what makes it land locked, we did start getting on the 34 3W to have that back out when you're in town next?????

That's a fun car and it once wore the rear tires that were on the Cal Kid till I wore em out on The River City Reliability Run. These ****ers wore to the cords, its chronicled in HRD #2 in a pic by Aaron Kahan.

Jake gave me those tires in 1996....They were Winston Bias Ply, I drove right into the Winston tire store in Redlands and walked up to the counter and low and behold the counter guy was someone I went to SGHS in San Gabriel with. I said "Hey Steve, I only got 10k Miles out of these, what's the warranty?????"

0, but I'll sell ya a set if Replacement tires for $160.00.
They're on the rear of that coupe, but they're radial, it seems that Bias Ply tires were out, I told him how wrong they were, there's a ton of guys who want just those. Sam Winston died shortly there after, Coker and other guys started ramping up there production of BP's and that's what's available now.....

    Happy 2017!!!!!!!!!

I was wondering what was going on with CW Moss. I check their website occasionally and it seemed like nothing was going on. Now I know why. I sure hope they get an online catalog going. Last time I was at CW Moss was almost 20 years ago when I had my 41 Merc. I bought 2 94's from Bill. Really nice guy. He gave me the number to a guy in Orange that rebuilt my crab. Jerry Jobe I believe was his name. I am going to have to cruise by their place when its all set up.

I stop into CW Moss often. Sometimes just to look around, sometimes to buy. Good people, lots of inventory. I asked my wife to stop there yesterday and pick up door hinge pins for the Tub. She calls me and says "you talk to him", he's on the phone laughing she says it's a '32 Ford, big and yellow! What model would be nice to know. You gotta love um!

They have a guy (the one who ran the Blacktop shop that was in the middle) is doing a new web site for them and online catalog. Jere Jobe moved to Montana I guess about 10 years ago now. haven't heard anything of him of late, the shop was called Vintage Carburetion North. Somers MT if I remember correctly

No where else but the HAMB can you get stories like this...........

  20. Went there again last weekend, found some NOS gauges for the '41 pickup hiding in the cabinet $35 each...still treasures to be found there. Looks A LOT better, way more product on the shelves and Terry said they're going to fill all the empty spaces too. CW Moss is going to be back as a place that has parts in stock for locals and hopefully a great online store....I really missed going into a place to get parts (and not having to order them).

I drove by a couple of weeks ago, but didn't have time to stop in. I saw several rods parked inside from the street. I need to go back and check it out.
